gearbox slop??

Since I've never had a vehicle with this type of gearbox I'm wondering is it supposed to have some play in it or should do my best to eliminate it all. I just got the fast eddy bearing kit for the whole truck as I'm planning to disassemble parts to put these in I noticed quite a bit of play in the gears on the especially the first gear coming off the clutch bell.
 
A little slop is normal, the gear plate off the motor can fail as well as the bearings. Best set up is aluminum or the Mt plate. I went with the belt drive and like it.
