Does anyone know if there are metal gears available in the 27/33 tooth sizes? I can find the 25/25 from ramtec but thats it so far.

Check with MCD suppliers. Rob sells MCD plastic gears and they are way better plastic than stock. This will help you but still give you a inexpensive weak link in case you go off jump full throttle and land or something bad.
