While I waiting for my boat to dry (see other thread) I decided to get the FG out for an easy spin. I thought it would be fun to show it off to some new people.

I got a pretty good audience around me, having fun kicking up dust. Then I bumped into a small patch of cement and blew the drive cup! How weak!!

I think a few people were deterred from the hobby because of this! I felt like a tool!

Got a few of those myself. I always keep a spare. They are one of the weak links when you go all alloy gears like I do. Its all a how much torque when the tires abruptly stops thing. Wish they were the price of the Firehammers but they are much better in wear.

are you running plastic suspension arms? try centering the drive shafts. sometimes on a flip or cartwheel it will flex the suspension arms enogh to bind and fracture the cup. not much to be disopointed about though

I also broke mine last weekend but this was the first time that I had to change it. I have now driven well over 15 gallons of fuel so I think they are pretty durable after all :)

Time for the Ball Driving Set for Buggy/Trucks. FG part # FG9472.

Here in the Netherlands for 85 euro.
Not exactly cheap, but a good system.

Why bother with such expensive stuff when the original last well over 15 gallons of fuel?

You have ran your truck hard just like the rest of us....I have had my share of
break downs more than any one...I have been thru 3 sets of drive cups....
I run all steel gears....drive cups are the weak link....

How long has that drive cup been in your truck Trip?

 ...Since it was new! 3 and a half years and about 16-18 gallons of fuel! I wasn't complaining, I was just bummed because of my "Lucky" streak I have been having! :yuk:

If I could afford it, I would just take a vacation, just to get away from it all. but I'm sure something would happen then too! :osama:

I guess one bit of good luck happened though, A tornado missed my house by about 2000 yards! :scared: It was a little Breezy and I had to pick up a few twigs out of the yard, but all was well!

Thanks for the comments, keep 'em commin!

Yor drive cup had 1 good innings...

The ball drives are no better as i have already broke a drive cup on it second outing with them...

I have in the meantime more dogbones and cups worn, than that I now ride with my balldrive system.
Nicer smoother transmission than dogbones.
I drive it with the Elcon Conical springs to keep the drive shaft centered.
