Getting a XT have some questions

Hi guys , i'll be getting a XT soon for the summer fun,


been into rc for about 15 years


Gas 1/5 is brand new to me because there affordable now lol


But anyways my main question is fuel/oil mixture.


1) what does 50:1 mean? i know its a mixture formula but i could use a explanation


2) whats the best mixture to use while breaking in? and after ?


3) also is castrol 50:1 2 stroke oil good to use or should i use somthing better , i was at my local parts store and thats all they had.

Hi welcome to the forum. 50:1 is 50 parts fuel to 1 part oil.so 2.5oz of oil to 1 gallon of gas,25:1= 5.12oz of oil to 1 gallon of gas,32:1= 1.4oz of oil to 1 gallon of gas.You can allways get 2cycle oil at any motorcycle shop,snowmobile shop.Castorol is ok.When your at the motorcycle shop get yourself a mixing flask.I allways run mine at 25:1. Welcome to the forum 25:1 would be a better mixture to use to break in the engine (5ounces of oil to 1 gallon of gas) I think the 50:1 would be too much oil and foul up plugs alot. A good racing 2 stroke oil is best to use and I prefer synthetic better protection for your engine.
 
thanks for the info , there happens to be a motorcycle shop in my town ill stop there and see if they got good oil and a mixing flask

A 50:1 mix has less oil than a 25:1 mix. If you're new to 5th scale, or two strokes in general, stick with 25:1 until you gain some tuning experience. A 50:1 mix is less forgiving than a 25:1 mix.

i got a little experience with weed eaters but i will continue reading and learning till i feel i got it perfect , thanks for the info :)

ALSO !

I just ordered the XT from my local hobby shop , i got a question about the HY30CC Engine , ive seen that it is a clone of the CY type engines , but i was wondering about the stroker/Bigbore kits , would one from a CY29 work or would it just be wise to buy a CY later down the line and do it proper ?

Yes the parts for the CY work.

It would not be much of a upgrade to a CY.

The upgrade would be to a Zenoah.
 
i run 32:1 mix in my rampage. 1 gallon run through at 25:1 then the 32:1, Deluge is correct on the lean mix ratio and tuning, somtimes better to play it safe until you get familiar with the rig then start playing around, i also suggest a premium 2stroke oil. i have 2 brands which for me i like IPone Samuri full Synthetic is my first choice and Lucas semi syn 2stroke. but its totaly up to you.

last thing to keep in mind after you run it for a while you might want to get in touch with a doctor because you will need medication to get that grin off your face

The HY crank case should be fine to build off of. The HY is a 30.5 and you can't really go bigger than that. If you want to upgrade the stock engine, you'd probably want to go with a ported head kit. You don't need a crank since the HY comes with a 30mm crank. Unless you want to go with a stuffed crank, which I'm not really a fan of.

I'm currently waiting on an ESP Championship ported 30.5cc head kit. I'm going to put it on a crank case that I had laying around. Should be an awesome engine. I'm stoked about it.
