I recently bought a 23cc km 001 buggy, I have probably gone through a gallon of gas, I like it so much more than nitro. The buggy is completely stock other than a traxxas 2075 servo that I am using for the throttle. I decided to check the spark plug and it was black. I thought that I was possibly running it too rich. So I bought a NGK plug for it, put it in today. I ran it for maybe 10 minutes and it started to glitch real bad, it would turn the wheels, give it throttle and brake with me not even touching the controller. I was thinking that someone might be running or using a similar frequency as mine. But whats weird is that the servos only glitch when the engine is running. If the engine is off it doesn't glitch at all. I'm stumped has anyone experienced anything like this or have an idea what it could be? Also lately I have noticed that when I hit the brakes then right when I let off the brakes it gives it throttle could this be a linkage problem?

is the NKG you bought a Resistor plug (the plug number will have an R in it if it is a resistor plug. If it doesn't have the R in it, then its not a sheilded plug and that can cause glitches badly.

if it IS an resistor plug, it may be a bad plug, ie, works fine, but the Shielding isnt right so it doesn't inhibit the glitching. try a new plug. or even your old one. all you need to do is lean up the carb needles a smidge, run that old plug and it ll burn off the black deposits and re color the electrode. just be sure you don't go too lean.

if it was fine before the new plug and funky now, try a different plug and let us know how you make out.

having a black plug is not all bad. It means you are on the right side of the tuning and wont have a seized engine  If it is running good then I would keep that plug as Tim says. My plug is black but it runs good right thru the range yes it is slightly rich but so what if the performance is good! If it aint broke don't fix it!

I will try out the old plug tomorrow, but another reason why I replaced it is because at full speed it would cut in and out. I believe I need to lean it up some. I do have oil/gas residue on the wing lol. Im just new to the 1/5 scale and don't want to run it too lean.

Read the idiots guide to tuning in the engine section. That will give you some good tips ;)

It is a resistor plug, but I did change it back to the old plug and lean it up some. It runs great now, better than it did before! thanks guys
