I won an FG MT on ebay that I was told had a new 4-bolt Zenoah 30.5cc full mod TS reed motor. Got it in the mail today and the top side of the head says Trevor Simpson but the bottom side of it says Chung Yang. I'm confused.

I thought that it was going to be a reed case motor also but the intake is on the head. Does that mean it's a TS ported head with a bolt on reed? I don't know to much about these reed engines.

Hello Bud

Well for what i read you just have a TS head does not mean you have reed motor. Only if you have a reed on the carb side on the head but if not you just got a Upgraded head . If case say CY it's a stock bottom end. But if you still want a Ts reeded bottom end you could use that head but it has to get ported with 5 or 6 port for the Ts reed bottom end:) If you ever go that rout I could do the work for you ,I done plenty TS reed motors that way.

Well, the motor is not new, it's not a zenoah and has no kind of reed induction. And appears like its got a blown gasket somewhere, there is oil all over the place. Also the new body it came with is not new either. I'm not a happy camper.

Well Ebay or Paypal

EBAY OR PAYPAL Has you covered If the description of item is not what it is you could get your money back...:)

How does that work if the guy won't take it back. I don't know yet, I emailed him about the motor telling I really just want to know what motor it is exactly. If it's a full mod 30.5 with TS head I'll keep it. Do they even make full mod CY 30.5cc?

a 30.5cc is a 36mm top end with a 2mm stroker crank. depending on the engine builder, as little as a quick port could be a "full mod".

could you post some pics of the motor so we can id it? sounds like its not a trevor simpson reed case motor, sounds more like a stock bottom end with a trevor simpson head kit. now it may have a reed manifold on it making it a reed motor, but not a reed case.

i could post some pics up of what these engines might look like, however it would be better if you can post some pics. even a link to the ended auction would help.

Well

How does that work if the guy won't take it back. I don't know yet, I emailed him about the motor telling I really just want to know what motor it is exactly. If it's a full mod 30.5 with TS head I'll keep it. Do they even make full mod CY 30.5cc?

Paypal Purchase Protection

If you buy something that never arrives, or if it arrives significantly different than described, you're eligible for a full refund. Check out our Purchase Protection policy, or learn how to open a dispute.

You need ask him who is the engine builder ,yes they have full mod CY 30.5cc:)

I believe it is stock bottom end with a TS head, don't know about the crank though. It is definitely not a reed case and it does not have a reed manifold either. I'll get some pics for you though.

ok thats a stock block with a trevor simpson headkit cylinder. the headkit cylinders are a stock cylinder with the top machined off to allow for a bolt on head. it is a 2 bolt, not a 4 bolt, and up till recently zenoah hasnt offered a 36mm cylinder, hence why thats a chung yang. there is no reed setup on that motor, and short of pulling it all apart there is no knowing if its actually a 36mm cylinder or if it has a 2mm stroker crank.

now, you said you were told its a "new 4-bolt Zenoah 30.5cc full mod TS reed motor". its obviously not new, its not a 4 bolt, it may not be a zenoah bottom end (you can check for markings), and its not a reed motor. you have a legitimate case to file a dispute with paypal, its obviously misrepresented.

hiya mate,

Yup he lies & hes trying to pull the wool over your eyes, open a dispute asap as after 3 or 4 weeks you can no longer put a dispute in & ebay will no longer support you.

yeah open up a ebay case thats clearly not as described and can imagine that your far from happy that aint a ts reed case mill thats for sure don't use it get your money back asap and give him the feedback he deserves sorry i know its not what you wanted to hear but that aint what you bid on

Don't

Don't let him change your mind, Just do the paypal Dispute Don't let him get away with It. You don't now how many people he's done that way, GET YOUR MONEY BACK;)

Log into paypal, go to the dispute section, enter the action number and file a dispute. it won't actually be a claim at first, just opens the discussion process. sellers usually step up and answer questions fast when you do that. if they don't provide a reasonable answer, step it up to a dispute. it takes time and it's a pain to deal with but you should do it right away. the seller falsely advertised and is trying to pawn off his junk instead of fixing it.

bummer to hear about the probs with the new purcahse! thats allot of oil, chances are he's been running with that blown gasket for a while in which case the piston, ring and cylinder and prolly rooted.

get your money back and start afresh, paypal will help allot in these situations, did you pay via paypal?

Yes payed via paypal. Going to contact them tomorrow. I contacted the seller via e-mail and showed him the pictures and pictures of what a reed motor looks like and that it said CY on it. He said he bought the truck from someone else and that is how they described it and he did not know any different, but he says since the truck has a 2-speed and blah blah blah that it is still worth the $1075 I payed for it. He said a stock one is worth $800.

It doesn't matter what he thinks it's worth the point is that it did not come with a motor anywhere near what it was listed to have, and it can be easily proven. I like the truck and I'm tempted to just keep it, but not for what I paid. Might see if he will refund like $300 to me. If not I'll start a claim.

thats exactly right, weather its worth the money you paid or not is besides the point, the product was incorectly descibed and this desciption is apart of the reason you purcahsed it.

from the pics its going to take some work to get it up to scratch, don't know how much without pulling it all apart but wont be cheap.

good luck with everything, keep us posted.

Good luck and you are correct in thinking you should get money back or a refund if not then a full refund when you report it.:hammer:

Well got my response.
Email I sent him:
I got the truck started on the stand today. It seems to run pretty strong and the oil that was everywhere appears to just be a blown exhaust manifold gasket. I do really like this truck, but I bid on it because it was said to have a 6hp 30.5cc full mod 4-bolt zenoah trevor simpson reed motor. It is not a 4-bolt, it is not a zenoah, and it is not a reed motor. So I don't even know if it's a 30.5cc or not. Bottom line is, if you wan to refund me $300 through Paypal I will keep the truck. If not I will have to start a case against you to get a full refund. This will be very easy to do since proving that it is not the motor listed will not be a problem, and they are significantly different. Sorry it has to be this way, but I bid on a truck with a brand new $1200 reed motor and it came with a used bottom end with upgraded head, about a $400 dollar motor assuming it is a 30.5cc full mod.

Also you did not send me additional pictures, I only have the ones from the add, and I can't see those parts of the motor that would have told me it was not what was listed. I hope we can work this out.

Email I got back:
"I sent you plenty of pictures and the truck is worth much more then what you paid for with all the mods.I loved that truck and im sorry i had to sell it.I really wish i never sold it.I paid alot of money for that truck the way it sits.I'm in law enforcement for 10 years and i know the laws pretty well.Do what you have to do.You got yourself an exspensive worked truck. If you want to get technical how do i know if you swaped parts from another truck to make me look like i screwed you.I was 100% positive that motor was a zenoah 4 bolt trevor simpson reed motor.I sent you multiple pictures.I'm starting to feel like I'm being scamed now.I'm not an expert but i was told that my truck had those parts in it.I took pics of the motor (close ups) and different angles of the truck. You made out on this transaction not me.I lost money here.Chris if your going to start a stupid case about this it's just going to hurt both of us for no reason.I will get negative feedback and so will u from me.So it's your call .Like i said i don't know u.You could have swapped motors on me or switched parts from another truck.I m the one who lost out here..I will counter your case with a case from myself.Sorry it had to come to this.I really am"

I have copies of all emails and messages between him and I. arrgghh, this sucks.

don't care if the guy is a judge, take pics, document everything and start a paypal case ASAP.

considering this guy doesn't know what he has as stated in his email he assumed it had the TS 4 bolt reed motor i don't think he's got a leg to stand on. its up to the seller to provide correct and accurate info. the fact he keeps going on about how much he spent and what its worth just proves he's trying to deter you from the obvious fact he's made a mistake.

Yes he doesn't know if youve gone and changed parts, this is apart of the importance of raising a claim ASAP.

Take pics and get onto that claim.
