Had another day at the park ended in tears but had a good few runs this time without it going breasts up too much

Just trying to sort through the mess that is my memory card now and get a vid up of the carnage and mayhem :D

I don't understand how something can be better when it still ends in tears. Are you simply using a bucket of tears scale to judge by or what? JK man, can't wait for the vid.

It was the first time since I got my FG a year ago that I have had it running longer than 5 mins but it did go wrong at the end the spark people mention at the end of the video I'll post was a c clip coming off the lay shaft and flying into the diff causing a nice firework effect but the camera never picked it up, the other FG cracked its head after a tumble hence a different noise surprised it carried on running.

Well heres the vid the Marder with no shell is my cousins, Hpi is my mates and the ugly marder with beetle shell is mine

Mine is almost indestructible now I think    love the way it jumps never jumped a RC car before so it goes a bit mental sometimes but its strong enough to survive :cup-1:

a couple of nasty nose dives from teh HPI, but teh FG seems well balenced in teh air.

I have heard that because the HPI engine is in the oposite way to teh FG, the flywheel counteracts the torque of the wheels, meaning that blipping the throttle mid-air doesn't have as much of an effect as it does on the FG.

Has anyone got any idea if this is true?

I love watching mine crash cos I know it will mostly survive intact :)

Gotta practise my jumping a bit more too  I'm not that good at it yet.

The total cost for the days damage is about £6-7 :w00t: not bad considering the amount of crashes just need a 7mm clip for lay shaft and a new head gasket after the head came loose

I personally think it's from a couple of factors, based on my experience with other (non 1/5) RC's

1. The suspension is really unbalanced whether in the RTR, or the SS if you used the recommended pistons / oils. I changed to 2 holes w/ 50wt in front, and 3 holes w/ 50 wt in the rear and adjusted my preload and it's WAY better than it was.

2. The Baja is only 2WD, so you don't get as much gyro effect by using the throttle / brakes on it.

I can say that along with the suspension changes, throwing away the stock rear tires makes a big difference as well, they're shite to say the least. My car is now very responsive to throttle input coming off the lip of the jump. I haven't had anywhere to test whether it's sensitive to changes mid air, I don't have a place to launch one that far. :D

Think that the e-clip must have caught the diff gears when it came off as my gears are not meshing properly anymore keep locking up :(
Will need to grind the burrs off I think but that can wait while I sort some much needed cleaning time and sort the suspension out so I don't bottom out so much :)
