So while trying to get my FH tuned right (getting close, but not quite there yet) I was making a high speed pass and everything seemed ok. I then went to brake and it just kinda coasted to a stop, not the abrubt rear end sliding I'm used to. I then gave it some gas and the engine screamed but the car barely drove away. I brought it back to me and watched, the pinion, spur, rear diff all spun just fine.
I shut it down and took it in for the night. Today, fearing the worse, I flipped the buggy over and prepared myself to take apart the rear end to get to a busted/stripped rear diff. Then I had a quick moment of clarity and tried holding one wheel while spinning the other. Wheel moved, dog bone didn't. Hmm, maybe I just have a busted wheel hub. Better, but still not great since that means I gotta buy a new pair of wheels. Took the nut and wheel off and inspected the wheel hub, looked just fine. I then looked at the square hub drive and it look fine to, tried spinning it and it spun, but the axle didn't. AHHH HAAA, the set screw in the hub drive had backed out somehow. Tightened it back and and its just like new again. How sweet is that.
My problem went from ~$60-100 (rebuilding diff) to $30-50 (new wheels) to $0 (tightening a loose set screw). Today was a good day.
