Guys, i've just swapped the damaged crank case on my FG Marder. I've now put the head back on the engine and it wont fire up!!!
I checked that the piston was oiled when putting it in the head. Now when i pull the start cord without the spark plug in the piston moves freely and everything seams ok. However when i put the plug back in its very difficult to pull the cord!!!. Now when i stripped the engine down i kept the card and manifold attached to the head and coil to the rest, so basically all i've done is swap the crank case and bolted it back together. One thing i did notice is the magneto touched the fly wheel on reassembly, i adjusted the gap using a credit card as a gauge and the flywheel span freely. Is there something major i'm missing here or have i broken something???

hi and welcome here did you replace the gasket and was it the right thickness im not sure my slef what that should be cant remember any more but that happened to me wrong thickness and you haven't changed the plug have ye is it the same plug u used last time

Head Ache!!

I've replaced gasket with identical version, the piston ring is in the correct position with the gap into the little guide. The engine is well oiled and everything moves fine, its just when the spark plug is inserted it seams as though there is too much pressure in the head!!. I'm not sure if this is correct or maybe the air isn't escaping into the exhaust correctly. I'm a little worried to risk firing it up incase it causes more damage.

hi whats it like when you pull dose it feel like it was the same as when you first got it if so i don't think it will be a problem
