g.b wi. the other frozen tundra
when i was on vacation out west i brought my nutech mt along with a big bore kit mine is a 4 bolt head. my bros. and nephews ramp mt just installed a big bore in a 2 bolt head my nephews ramp. broke a head bolt, shortly after iam back my bros. head bolt snapped where mine are fine? now theres came with new head bolts mine didnt weak bolts or whats the scoop. any one with ideas?
 
Hahaha.. Im not sure what your question is? U went on vacation and brought or bought a four bolt nutech then stripped the head bolts then bored it up then your nephew got the same motor and stripped the bolts, then your bros and nephew then somthing about weak bolts hahaha ?? :)
 
Sounds like either a bad bolt or the squash is to close and the piston slapped the top of the cylander and busted the bolt, check to make sure the piston doesn't come up and slightly hit the cylander dome when you change the bolt..


What big bore kit did he use? Was it stroked? Lots of things can cause a head bolt breakage.
 
Did the bolt snap in half or just stripp out?- check your crank it should either have no markings, meaning its stock crank or it will say +1 or +2

Well if all they did was use the 28/36 kit making it 28.5 with stock .020 gaskets they should be fine?


Sometime a loose headbolt will let the cylander come up on one side then the piston going up in the slanted cylander will grab so to speak and pop the bolt..


Just another thing to mention!!


Keep those head bolts tight!! :D
 
rob64n that was my first thought, i assumed it was a roll over but then i thought it would bust the exhaust bolts. redrum maybe the bolts did came loose. my truck should be here today got my parts from ddm yesterday ,iam going to reuse the head bolts on my big bore kit. maybe they got a bad batch ? thanks guys
