Ok.i put a new tall aluminum intake on.so Sunday i decided i was going to put every thing together and give it a go.well wasn't running right and spark was weak.i removed engine cover to take a look.we'll one of my head bolts snapped and i don't see a head gasket.do they come with gaskets or is just gasket spray.working on all kinds of motors i always saw a head gasket .could it left the factory with out a gasket its a stock 30.5 cy motor.any help would be helpful.thanx ildy ...

The hy 30 comes factory with a head gasket. It is made of paper. Wanna fix it and forget it? thought so. Do not waste your time-money buying permatex copper kote, any type of silicone sealant- bla-bla.- its not even intended for this-. !st, Go to a decent auto parts store and buy or order this-- Permatex Moto seal, comes in a tube. Then go to the DDM site and order this-CA-320. and this- AV-504. While the engine is apart, put a new piston ring in it, this is logical. DDM # CA-373. Get -buy 2 head bolts with a shoulder- I.E.- they look like they have a built in flat washer under the head of the bolt. When you get this stuff idly, contact me- i will show ya how to install this. I run engines far harder than they would be ran at a off road track or bashing. This will seal up the Venrable 2 bolt.

Yea Deluge, That could be it. Thing is bout these 2 or 4 bolts, They should have studs with a center diameter that allows the jug to center on. This would be a easy project for 7075 rc. Bet he could make some coin once the word got out-- if he made them. I never use a soft gasket on these engines. 2 or 4 bolt. its too rough on the jugs. See posts frequently on other sites where people are cracking the ears-corners of the jugs. Check out my post about the 2 bolt 35mm top end cut for a 30mm crank, I ran the dogs off this engine in the dust- not even a film of damp dust on the sealing area. The Moto seal can easly be cleaned up with Laquer thinner when its time to disassemble. Have a good one-- D.B.

Thanx Alfred Im gonna get that stuff and give you a shout.i put diesel engines together so Im familiar with gasket sealents.i was thinkin stainless head bolts for extra strength.thanx for the carb. Deal but i got a 990 on it already.Im going to put this motor build on back burner. i got a 1988 Honda 250r motor in the back of my expedition that's waiting to get put together.my sons are been riding their dirtbikes and whining to me about putting my r together.it never ends..lol..ill pm u about my 250r.i read that u got a cr 500.i loved those bikes...

The wet spot- rolled in dust. lol!

Get this Idly- Jemery Mc Grath rode nearly his entire Moto-cross- super cross career on a 1984 cr honda chassis. no bs. every now and then a frame comes out thats magic, every thing just clicks- I loved that year CR, It felt planted- locked in. Here are 2 photos of a F-270 with 4 tanks of fuel tru it.- Starting to weep allready. This will be disassembled shortly- Zen seals- Nachi bearings-ring it, with a 0.005" copper base gasket, i am guessing i will get 0.022" squish on this puppy-- Man, do i love the T-27s!!

thats cool,i was gonna say 1984 cr was a good bike.but mc Grath raced in the 90's.and u know 10 years in motocross technology is big.remember when they started inverting front forks.it was wierd to see no shock boots.man we're really showing our age...lol...

I've seen a few broken ears, as well. They usually break because the head bolts were overtightened.
