Well went to use mt Sunday to find out won't start.inspected found head gasket blown out again it seems every run i have to replace the gasket.its starting to get real old ... Does any one else have this same problem??So i decided the only way to enjoy my mt is to put a new engine in it.its between obr or or gizmomotors engine.after speaking with Tim at gizmomotors he told about the 30.5 prolite 4 bolt zen engine.6hp 3.3 lbs or torque and $338 shipped to the door.so i think Im going to pull the trigger and order it.any body know of this engine.he said it screams and pushes 18000 rpm...well i think that should cure my head gasket problems...

That is a great engine. You will be impressed.

The head gasket issue, to me, sounds like you might have a warped surface. I have never blown a gasket on a 2 bolt. They have treated me well. If you are going through gaskets that quick there is another problem.

have you tried a copper gasket ?

if you use proper procedure when installing one it should hold up for you.

there are a few simple steps to follow before installing a copper gasket

1) lightly scuff both sides of the gasket

2) anneal the gasket

3) use a very thin layer of permatex hi temp copper gasket silicone on both sides of the gasket

4) properly torque the head bolts, at this point i would replace them if you have removed them more than twice.

its a cheap fix for now and could let you save up for the new mill while you are running the stocker.

never ran that engine. the blown gasket- this a 2 bolt motor? if it is- try a ddm stainless steel graphite gasket- trim it so it drops easly on the jug, buy several of these-some have a better graphite coating than others- this is a must- hpi#15438. wide cap head torx screws 4 to a package- m5x20mm. take it down to 8n/m- heat cycle the car on the stand- retorque -repeat this 3 times- you work on bikes ect- you know about break loose torque- take it down to 9 n/m. no washers on the bolts-no loktite. yea, clean the mating surfaces with acetone- or touline- not the gasket before assembly- i have gallons of fuel tru this- wayy over heated- ran the crap outta the engine- not even a damp spot so far-- so far-lol!

Thanx guys for ur responses.i haven't tried a steel gasket yet.went to the local motorcycle shop they gave me gasket paper they use to make head gaskets on their cnc .so i made a whole bunch of them.used some high temp sealer used on diesel trucks.it held up for two runs.Im gonna purchase that 4 bolt zen from gizmomotors for my mt.but i have another 30.5 in my xt that Im gonna put a esp headkit from ddm on that case because like rcdad said i might have warp problem.so Im gonna put a graphite gasket on that like Alfred was talkin about.but i have to think that 2 bolts don't have enuff torque all around the gasket to keep it from blowing out.and when time allows..haha...Im gonna tear down the problem 30.5 and run a straight edge on it just to check base warpage.also i have graphite gasket materiel at work we use to make gaskets on diesels.so i guess ill try all of the pointers Alfred and irp threw out.so thanx again guys for ur advice..

yea, its worth a try! thing bout silicone is that gas will dissolve it. not just silicone, but about 99% of the other sealants also.- - - -

Alfred ur probably right.but what i used was impervious to gas and oil.used when i worked for a gm dealership so i thought it would do well...that's why 4 bolt zen & 6 hp sounds pretty good now.plus its a good excuse to get a new motor with triple the power of stock cy..lol...

More power is cool!!!!! But my only concern is my dog bone and tranny :D More power equal more stress on them :D I've been wanting a long rod but I will save up for it I guess :D Maybe I can slap it into a Losi? lol

With my driving style nothing lasts long.y Dr has a esp 30.5 and I can't keep pins in the dogbones they keep chewin up

If they are sliding out. You can grind a dimple in the center of the pin. That will keep the pin from sliding on the set screw.

Well put the order in for the new motor should hopefully be here by wed. Can't wait to c the power this thing makes also how it sounds...

Still waiting talked to Tim today at gizmomotors said it should be here today but no dice.will my cy clutch fit on the zen motor?

Its a zen motor with a pull start and 990 for $338 shipped and gizmomotors head work and gizmomotors billet piston...
