Hello, I'm buying a Rampage MT. I was concidering a Baja ss, but I think a 4x4 is the way to go, plus it's a MT! I'm new to 1/5 scale, not rc. I have read alot on the mods you folks have been making to your rigs. Where can I find the right head kit for the stock engine? Is it worth doing to the stock engine? Also, I'm a machinist, I would like to build my own "X-Can" what is inside them? I see you can open them up, are they just empty? Does anyone Have a picture of one open? Thanks!

Welcome glad to see some more hands on talent . Man If your looking for a machining project, I got plenty. I have manual machines and not much time because of my job and most people on here want my fab work products.

Forget the x can they are not much better than stock, let me build or modify you a pipe and you put your machining talents into maybe a dual servo mount that will bolt down where the radio box goes.

I also need some mounts made for my new full length brace mounts. That project is half machining and half fab work.

You will have plenty of cool ideas running through your head to machine in less than a week, don't waist your talent on a no power making exhaust.

The xcan is a good option , altough its no 77dom , they do make power .

Complete dyno test results - All exhaust systems

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

What ive done with this first round of preliminary tests is as follows:

completely stock CY 23 fuelie engine with the exception of long billet intake mounted with stock carb. 25:1 fuel/oil mixture with Klotz/BP premium.

Uni filter oiled with HPI filter oil. stock spark plug.

I made 3 runs starting with needle settings at factory position. 2nd run, made lean adjustment, 3rd run, made leaner adjustment. Picked best run.

For this first round of tests im not going to milk every .10th hp by making 50 runs per pipe with 1/32 turns on the needles. Ill save that for more detailed runs comparing porting, bore/stroke, carb/pipe combos.

The tests are back to back runs. I conducted this comparo in 2 hours. All weather factors are pre-programed before testing.

Ill post complete HP and Torque GRAPHS as soon as I can.

Hello Sprint 77, I have been a manual machinist for 17 years, and a cnc machinist for the last 4. But I have never tried to build a tuned pipe. I also have a great fab shop, and welding dept. As soon as I receive the Beast I will be planing all kinds of hop ups I'm sure. I have been into Nitro RC for the past 15 years or so. I currently own a Savage SS, great truck but i'm tired of nitro. Lets keep in touch on the on the trade work, I will have a better idea of things when I get my truck. Can you point me in the right direction for the head kit? Thanks!

Rob has the head kits, and if your truck is coming from him can be thrown in the box for the head kit price won't affect the shipping weight enough to add much to the cost.

If it is already on its way several people sell them DDM, Large Scale Rc ,

Mooman will shoot you straight on motor stuff, his ideas are good fab wise can say much for is execution of them LOL Had to get you when I can MOO

i like the ported headkits myself. o'neils 28.5 is a monster. i also like the x-cans. not as great as a side mount dom, but i like the look of the x-cans. thanx for pulling up looney's dyno chart. was looking for that on hbf not long ago. my sugjestion to every one is working out the mechanicl issues first before setting up the mill and pipe. will save you alot of trauma

I agree with working out the bugs first.

I agree with that too. Once the main issues are fixed you will feel a bit more trusting on the drivetrain.
