Not shure if this is gonna cook the header-pipe coupling, only one way to know- soak the header wrap in hot water, sqeeze-slide off excess water- then wrap. Twist the wrap-pipe to tighten further. Dry, then apply 2 light coats of Silicone paint. On full sized 4 banger engines with bare header, the cold weather causes the engine to run sluggsh, the hotter the exhaust gasses-the faster they exit the system. with the proper jetting this produces more power. This should apply to a tiny 2 stroke also. If nothing else it will end blisters on my hands-fingers!

Super old thread but I wanted to know if this worked for you? I was considering wrapping my new pipe from the flange to the other side of shock tower. Any input on the matter??

Instead of starting a new thread I figured I would bring this one back to life...

i wrapped the pipe from the stinger to the connector, secured it with wire-coated it with silicone paint- made the pipe run too hot- melted the silicone coupling quickly. this occured in the winter weather in n.e. oregon - it was a jet-pro rear mount. works great on a 4 stroke dirt bike- keeps ya from cooking your leg when you flounder out on a switch back trail and end up under the engine- would you like your leg over medium or well done? lol!

See that's what I was thinking, just from header to about the beginning of expansion chamber. I too am having problems with my silicone coupler getting soft when hot and popping off. Sounds like I should address that problem before wrapping...
