Hey guys,

Name is Mike, I am going to be buying a used Fire Hammer MT from a buddy of mine. I'm getting this truck cheap as heck so I cannot pass up on it.

Anyways. I am wondering where you can buy stock and upgrade parts for it? I only know of web sites like Tower Hobbies and some local ones, I know this truck is discontinued and was wondering if its getting hard to find parts for it?

I did do a quick search on here with no so great of luck without reading for a long time!! But Id also like to have the info in my own thread for future references.

Thanks guys. Ive watched YouTube videos of this truck and it seems tough, so I'm excited to let her rip. I should be getting it tomorrow.

Thanks...

parts are easy to get for it. i have 2 of them and i order all my parts from tower hobbies. they still stock all parts. but if you want to up grade then up grade with fg parts but make sure if you do that then you change all the parts to fg or you will run into problems.

Thank you to the both of you for your input so far.

Maybe a stupid question but what is a FG, I'm guessing its a truck that uses the same parts but what brand is it and what place can I buy parts for it. I looked at Tower and didn't find anything but I could have been looking in the wrong places ? Ive read also if you do any hop ups on this (engine) to get new alloy mounts for the engine and gears. Is this true? Something is wrong with the stock mounts I guess.

This is my 1st gasoline truck and of course they don't make it anymore and don't want to order parts from a non reputable place online, so Id like to know where you guys successfully shop at online. Thanks so far

fg is a major brand. you can get parts all over the place like dave's discount motors (ddm for short), largescalerc, vancouver hobbies, etc. tower hobbies is for the smaller scale stuff but they do carry baja and firehammer parts. where are you from? i also order parts from 5thscale canada. they are out of milton ont.

Kreb - Again, thanks

I live in Florida USA.

I did find that DDM website. The others however I just learned from you, thanks.

I am currently browsing DDMs website and I will look up the other sites later on. I will be heading out to my buddies place in a few minuets to help him with somethings and grab the truck. Ive been watching videos every moment I had some spare time today and I cannot wait to let this thing rip. I just want to look the truck over to familiarize myself with it and clean her up some. I looked on DuraTraxs site to try and find the manual and parts diagram for it, unless I missed something they don't have it, is their a place I can download the manuals at do you know?

Again, thanks for your help!! :)

since you live in florida then you'd be better to deal with ddm or largescalerc. if you go on duratrax site they don't have it listed but if you type firehammer in the search box it will come up. here is a link to largescale. http://www.largescalerc.com/

Cool man, got all the info.

I picked the truck up and she needs some minor work before I run it, but Ill get it ready soon!

Thanks, Im sure I will have more questions!!

fg supply is good too. I use them quite a bit. advance hobbies in Ontario has some of the largest fg stock around. I ordered from hobbytek germany a short while ago. they have tons of bling for your truck, carson stuff is the same. just make a decent sized order to offset the shipping charge. that said my order was shipped courier for about $40 and was here in 4 days.

the alloy motor mounts are a very good idea. you can loktite the screws.

Mine has what looks like a alloy (blue) mount but it looks like just one of them, Ill take a picture of it later on and post it. Maybe its been changed over already I hope, well at least one!!

Here is a list of parts that are interchangeable from FG to Duratrax, it's for the Buggy, but you'll get the idea.

http://bigboystoysandhobbies.com/duratrax_

FG is a German company that designed this type of 1/6 scale truck, the Smartech, Carson, XTM, Duratrax, etc are all Chinese built clones of the FG.

Nothing wrong with the clones, I own one myself, but the parts made by FG are at least 10 times more durable than the clone parts.

I actually ran the firehammer mt arms on the fg to get the extra width. I've owned just about every fg clone made now and swapped parts around between them. some fit together, some don't. the list above is good.

first 2 things to buy. FG alloy spur carrier 60mm is the large geared one for mt. the plastic ones strip. and either the fg or duratrax alloy dif case. the plastic dif cases are crap, it has an aluminum tube but the rest is plastic. the third is either get alloy front knuckles or change to the fg plastic ones. the duratrax ones have a metal sleeve in the screw goes in but they always strip out. the plastic fg one is way better even. then get some fg or gpm shocks. don't even waste time rebuilding those leaky things. not trying to scare you off, just being straight up

if you want the aluminum diff case you'll have to go with the fg cause the duratrax one is discontinued. i looked for one and thats how i found out.

The FG one is not much more for the added benifits you get with the construction of it. The FG has pin bearings and bushings that the DTX one did not.
