Hey guys I have a new toy a fg buggy with 2speed. I was running it today for the first time and heard like a grinding noise on full throttle. U can barely hear if u do it slow but when u hit the throttle all the way it looks like something is grinding. I took it all apart and saw that the both gears are spinning in both direction freely. So I figure it was the one way bearing. Took the bearing out and tested it but it's only spinning in One direction. Could it be the shaft? Found a missing thread pin the one that's hold it to the shaft not the one that's out a few mm. Thanks

or maybe somethind else is loose, the layshaft and diff gears meshing properly? have a good check over the car to see everything is in place and secure e copies , are the bearings ok in the large engine mount and gear plate?
ive been watching some going on ebay,the cheap ones are obviously chinese copies (£45 new) and there some steel twin speeds,but these could also be the cloned bearing,carrier , layshaft and clutchbell with desent good metal gears put on after so im abit stuck on the two speed option, i cant tell the difference. are the cheap ones really that bad?
 
i was going to get the custom all metal 2 speed set from ebay @£90 but i asked seller a couple of questions about them and he never replyed so mugged them off if he had answered i would have had them but no reply sod him
 
i was looking at them, he also has the plastic cheap £40 version, so thought maybe the metal one is the same with metal gears but chinese innards so im not going to bother especially after him not returning your message.
Ijust want the bottom end of 18/46 and the top speed of 22/42 so its just fast all the way through to 65mph. ill be happy with that.i think it would raise the front end on the gear change too as it wheelies easy with 22/42 and 17 lay.
they are using 2 speeds on fg's in the drag races and with a tuned motor and pipe they are stuppidly fast. your bug accelerates fast now ren, imagine it with a 2 speed or are you thinking more for the bm. if i do get a 2 speed the 2nd gear will be changed straight away,i don't know why they bother putting 18/46 and 2nd gear as 20/44,the jump is just too small.
 
was thinking of the bug mate the bm's wicked running the bugs 20/44 gears i will be putting them on the bug once ive got some more for the bm may run 22/42 in the bm for a little more top end
 
Hey guys I'm back. It's not the one way bearing. Found out that the ball and the spring plus the 2 thread pins where missing behind the alloy flange. But unfortunately it still grinding. Smh. The lay shaft l
 
what are the threaded pins ,ball and spring from. a few people have been having issues with the fg 2 speeds lately.
if itys griding ,change back to single gear or find the existing parts or you will need a new layshaft and diff gear.

did you buy the 2 speed off assad, advertised as brand new complete 2 speed with all parts and makes a great metalic( metal on metal)noisel under acceleration lol..

No I didn't buy it off eBay not unless I bought from Assad in person lol. It came with the kit when I bought it. I bought it locally here. The ball and spring is behind the claw where it shifts to the second gear. Comes with two headless pin or thread pins one hold the second gear inthe shaft the other is to adjust the setting to early or later shifts. So frustrating! I don't have the original one speed set up. So now I have to buy all of those. That's y I put an ad whoever has an extra one like clutch bell, gears big and small. New lay shaft for sure and etc. thanks
