Well I got my MT,and Trying to install CPI tuned pipe. Well got off cage and held in place, oooooooops, covers up gas cap. Looks like I need to rotate tank so cap is on other side............NOT. Got REAR shaft from center diff goes right through Tank...........Is there an easy way to remove that shaft so I can rotate tank....Didn't really want to disassemble the whole truck my first day.....HELP

Part # 50036

I had to turn my tank around too for that same reason (except I got a side dominator). It is not as hard as it looks... you have to remove the rear diff and basically the entire ass end comes off- that drops the dogbone. Then just 4 more screws and your tank is loose. As you rotate it, you may want to take the fuel lines off the Carb- just label them with tape or something so you can remember which was on top and which was on bottom.

If there is one thing I have learned about these trucks- don't be scared, dive right in and you will get real comfortable with it real fast... and you will have a better understanding of how it all works.

Take pictures if you need to remember how it went together.

Yes the tank needs to be flipped. Remove the screws on the bottom of the chassis that hold the rear diff. You can take the whole rear suspension out in one piece. It's the easiest way!

Good idea on pics! The first time can get ya frustrated. Don't worry, these are very easy platforms to work on.

Very easy! Remove the screws under the diff case. Remove the screws that attach the top plate to the diff case and the posts on the chassis. After that the rear end will slide out as one whole unit. Then flip the tank and reverse the process. Should take about 5 minutes, if that.

Here are some screenshots that should help give you an idea of what you need to do...

For the plate, just remove the four screws on top. You don't have to remove the screws under the chassis.

Dive right on in, you will be fine, all new screws will come out and go back in a treat. CPI makes a world of difference I love mine

A JetPro would alleviate this inconvenience.

Actually it's required for the Jetpro on the MT. They come with the fuel cap on the left side.

Almost!......I have an early V3 MT (second shipment from china to redcat) and my tank Cap was on the Gear side, no need to swap for CPI pipe. Maybe it was the later V3 models.

I noticed when I bought my new tank, it came with much beafier retainer brackets...maybe the change was made when they started using new brackets.

@ KrashKrieg: Ditto, I didn't have to spin my tank around either. I just fit the pipe on tightened everything up and and voila... done. I haven't had a problem gassing up yet.
