Hello all, I'm at my wits end. I am trying to tune my baja for the first time in about a month ( fresh off of a rebuild, did not disassemble motor) I can get the motor to sit at a good idle but when attempting to revve engine it bogs and dies. If I feather the throttle up to high rpm's then quickly bring it to idle it will also bog out and die. Often after this happens I have to choke it again to get it to start again.
Things I have checked;
Air filter brand new and clean
Spark plug brand new light grey coating
Fuel line not kinked
Fuel cap breather open

30.5 cc
50:1 fuel
Air temp roughly 90
After market pipe

50:1 fuel won't help - much too lean.
Maximum is 32:1, most go for 25:1 for safety.
50:1 for weedcutters and strimmers - lower revs. DO NOT believe the bull some say about super-lean mixtures - you will regret it.
Next, check the carburettor settings.
Next check the clutch is working properly - not binding.

Al.

Will the 50:1 affect the issues I'm having?
I did check the carb. Doesn't appear to be clogged. I've went from hpi stock setting and have gone rich lean and everything inbetween, I can get what in my opinion is a perfect idle setting but after the movement I mentioned above it still stalls.
Ironically my clutch spring just went out on me while messing with it. Could a weak/ loose clutch spring really give me the symptoms I'm having?

I see you said you didn't take the motor apart, but did you by chance have the coil off?

Improper spacing of the coil in relation to the flywheel will cause some strange issues.

worth checking out at least.

I did not have the coil off. I did disassemble the engine. Changed the head gasket, cleaned my carb gaskets, new exhaust gasket. I also took the little rubber piece out of the gas cap. Went back to factory settings on my carb and 2 pulls later I was running fine.

Who knows what in the heck I fixed but I fixed it! Lol
