HELP ME WITH MY MTXL!!

i bought a 20 tooth pinion gear for my mtxl, once i finished installing it i tried to mount my engine back in the car but it wont fit and it might be because its too big but i see other people doing 20 tooth pinion gears and they seem fine

They may of fitted a slighty smaller spur gear from the dbxl to enable the 20t pinny to b used??
I went 16t in my mtxl.?..and was gonna try 17t? but I've sold it now☺
