HI I HAVE SAVED UP £500 TO BUY A BIG PETROL CAR BUT WHICH DO I GO FOR IT WILL BE SECOND HAND WHICH DO YOU LOT THINK IS BEST OUT OF FG MARDER/FG BEETLE/FG MONSTER TRUCK/ OR A lauterbacher supper cross 2wd this car is on preloved at £400 and the fg beetle is on ebay its made up of a few fg cars bit from a beetle ane marder and hpi baja it has had alot fif work dun to it or do i go for something els im going to be park bashing but i wont somthing fast and that will last please help me thank you joe

you will get different answers on this but heres my input ive got a fg beetle and am well happy with it the spare parts a easy to get and can be had cheap via ebay theres every upgrade you could ever want or need and with the right ones you can have a relable fast car that will take every thing you can throw at it mines cost a bit now but thats my choice they don't however handle as good as the hpi baja/clones but can be made better with a few tweeks here and there also the fg base car is the same with changes here and there for different models but all based on the marder hence the amount of spares outthere good luck

It depends on what you want to do with it and the price.

If you want a "Go-Everywhere" r/c that can jump, pull wheelies, drive over everything in it's path, go with the MT.

If you are looking to get into racing whether it be in car parks or grass/dirt the Marder is a good choice.

The Beetle is a Marder, but with a VW body on it.

I own both an MT and a buggy, I would say I have more fun with the MT. It's slightly wider (wheel offset) so it doesn't roll over as easily.

The good thing is, it doesn't really matter which one you choose, as they are all based on the Marder buggy chassis and can be converted to each other. Meaning a Marder can be turned into an MT and the MT can be converted to a Marder. I would say buy the one that reaches out and grabs your attention the most, or get the vehicle that most closely resembles the vehicles of your mates. Or the vehicle that is completely opposite of your mates r/c's to be different, whatever your personality is.

The great thing is there are tons of aftermarket parts for the FG's and you can make it however fast or cool as you want.

Check out some Youtube vids and see which you like the best.

If you still cannot decide, go with the one that's in the best condition.

I cannot comment on the Lauderbach as I have never owned one.

Hi Joe,

Joe here as well! I see you're in the UK area and from what you've saved $$ and the choices shown I'd go for the Lauterbacher Supercross. I've had all the ones you've mentioned and the Lauterbacher was the best.

i have a firehammer mt witch is just a clone of the fg and a hpi baja. i love both my cars and both are great to bash with but i have alot less problems with the baja as apposed to the fhammer mt. both are my fav's but i wrench on the fhammer alot more.

yes im in uk derbyshire its so hard to make up my mind i don't wont to buy one then someone say that i made a bad choice

selwa i seen that car on the net its why i wont one it look mint iv looked at alot of rc cars and this is a nice nice nice car how much did you sell it for

I assume its your 1st largescale so I would go for an FG. They are very durable, easy to work on and maintain, parts are easy to come by and when set up right they can go like a scalded cat :D As Trip says you can change the marder to a beetle or to a MT for not much cost. They are the transformer of the largescale world :lol:

I sold mine for $2000CAD a few years ago. Guys in the UK run some really nice cars and sell them to get new ones so used ones go for sale every now and then frequently. Eventhough you want to bash with them it's nice to have something very stable and tough while running.

there're allways be some spotty kid telling you that his is bigger and better. Pick something that doesn't seem to have a bad reputation, and make sure it is a style that you like, then you can't loose.

Personaly I like the FG line of cars as it is easy to work on, and there are lots of hop ups avaliable for a fairly sensible price (i'd be lying if I said that any largescale was cheap). The HPI Baja seems to be the next most popular to the FG. If your budget is limited, the King Motor Baja is worth considering.
