hey guys my pinion gear which i beleive is the small one that connects the diff to the layshaft seazed to the layshaft because i used red lock thread dooohhh!!! so had to take that one out replace it but i only have a 14t and 16t gear! are these ok to use im using a 41 spur gear with a 23t clutch gear? is this totally warped? incase anyone replys who hasnt seen my posts i have a FG touring car running a 29cc zenoah big bore kit. mega confused with gearing n whats best. thaaanks for any help

hay sharky oh cool ok ill run that i never realised but the one that got stuck was a 15t which is a bit odd. if you have less teeth does that mean higher top speed? or more teeth better top speed im guessing smaller t's mean better acceleration

on the off roads they usally add up to 64 im runing stock gearing 18/46 and 16/48 but i have got a 19 that fits with the 48 quite well and its the same overll size as the 18

I think he means the layshaft gear that mates with the diff ring gear. If this is the case then yes either 14t or 16t will still work. 16t is prob your best option.

If the gear is stuck on the layshaft, strip it down and hang the layshaft and gear through a vice so the gear is sat on top of the vice jaws and the shaft hangs down through it but is not gripped (or drill a hole through a decent piece of wood). Get a short section of 8mm bar (or whatever you can find in your toolbox that will do) and tap the layshaft through the gear using a hammer and the bar. You should be able to drift the layshaft through the gear quite easily this way then you can drill the grub screw out of the gear or get a torch on it to melt the loctite.

hey dwarfy nice thanks good advice i will try that, ill try get my hands on a vice or fnd someone who has one. i've had a go at the drilling but i've just made more of a mess of it lol. ill keep you posted if all fails ill try get a second hand one on ebay. ok cool so either 14t or 16t is good, can i just ask about 17t and 18t is that best to avoid? oh and ya i meant its the gear that connects to the 48t diff gear. sorry about my rubbish explaining of it lol
