What are drive hexes and grub screws? Cheers

It's probably a good idea to check all the grub screws in the gears too.

The "drive hexes" should be squares on an FG unless it's been altered. Remove the rear wheel and you'll see the square on the stub axle, it should have 2 grub screws to hold it in place - these need to bit tight and secured in place with a quality threadlock such as loctite 603 (it's actually a bearing retainer but it's perfect for the job), this can also be used for the grub screw on gears too. For anything else screwed into alloy or steel, loctite 243 or 248 is ample.

I don't like them and as this is an open forum I'll voice my opinions how I see fit.

I don't think that Baja style of car (who ever makes it) offers the owner a realistic view into setting up cars and making them work well as there is very little adjustment - it's a baja, i must add bits to it including big daft pipes and engines to make them work.
your right it is a open forum, and i respect your decision to run what you run and i never bash what ever people are running it's their choice, now besides you being a factory racer? is that correct?
how many people on here really race baja's? in all honesty how many actually race and drive from city to city with their baja to race? how many say they will race? but actually never do,
so the baja is well suited for the average r/c'er which is what people actually buy it for, to bash around or just to take out on the weekend and run around,
now back to what you stated "no realistic adjustments", well i can adjust my baja quite well, from suspension options and heights, to gearing options, to electric option, and yes from lil' stock pipes to big noise makers, and basicly almost any engine options that out there, but my baja's ran just fine in stock form,i did and do what i do to my baja's because i chose to not because i have or had to.
but i think you like to abuse the fact that people are allowed more of a "voice" as you put on here, and like to bash what ever is not FG related or what ever you don't like, but if some one was bashing the FG's you would be all over them, tell me that's not true?
if you want respect show some, otherwise don't get upset later on when the tables are turned

The fact is I only "bash" things that don't work or are a needless expence to the end user. The HPI style Baja is in my opinion one of the worse cars out there for costing a fortune. I dislike the MCD very much but it can be made to go well without spending a fortune - I'm not a great fan of the Losi but it goes well.
People do slag of FG or various other cars and I'm not the slightest bit bothered about that especially when set up suggestions are able to be made and when they're tried, the user discovers it works.

hey guys ah woah i've missed alot in the few days since i've last been on looks like my threads caused some contention. I just thought if i could get a baja for a decent price it would be good to take down the beach and up the park, as i have my onroad fg and contrast for the serious careful driving etc.
I have always fancied an FG monster truck however they always come up second hand with rubbish servos etc compared to the onroad touring cars. For the price the spec is way way lower.
Check out my other thread on DOT 4 as a bodyshell paintstripper if anyones thinking of redoing a shell id hope to help with my experiences!! threads in the paint and bodyshell secton
