Wow after a year of reading the forums I decided to join. I have a FG MT with a ESP 30.5cc head kit, High End Dom pipe, 813 Walbro carb and 8000 rpm clutch spring.

Not that long ago our group was running in a sandy and highly dusty off road area and my truck sucked in dirt, and now that motor is a door stop.

This time I want a little more power, should I get another esp 30.5cc head kit or the full modded and ported motor?

I am also tired of too much wheel spin and the front end never on the ground, so I bought a set of 20/44 gears. Has anyone used this combo with the MT tires.

Does anyone else own a FG MT other than Trip and myself here in Michigan?

Thanks Guys,
Hills.

hey bud. sounds like you got a hell-a-beast on your hands. i personelly would opt something like a zen 27.2 wich out rpm's a 30.5 and will give more control over the wheel spin. anyway. welcome to the boards. good spot here and plenty of fg guys as well.

To stop the wheelies get shut of the high RPM spring, put your hard tyres on the back and mediums on the front add a DDM or such like 26cc (25.5) big bore head. You could use a WT668 or 607A to slightly de-tune it.
If you have sucked shite in the carb and killed the mill use a standard filter with a Redneck pre-filter and an Outwears or such-like sock to eliminate all trouble with foreign bodies entering your carb.
If you are using gears like that with a lower CC engine you will probably fry it! I used a combination of 22/42 and you could literally smell the clutch burning! the speed was there but for the little more it gives you its just not worth the hassle of repairing the engine, clutch and other parts.
I don't know about people having trucks in Michigan but there are a load of folks here on this forum with the FG MT.
Good luck and welcome to LSF.
J.

The 27.2 ported kit would be a great motor for the MT. The MT is short so major low end power just is not a must IMO. If it were 4wd then I would stay with a 30.5.

Get the ported kits. I just swapped a gp290 ported kit on a baja with a stock can and it is a great motor compared to stock. The amount of porting obviously is not the issue, its how its done and where that makes the difference.
