high idle

I am new to these motors and I recently wasn't getting no gas to cylinder was carb so I bought a 668 carb and installed it well it starts up but has high idle if I turn idle screw nothing seems to happen and if I turn my ls needle to 1/8th rich from stock setting she runs but idle is high move ls little more 1/16th? it bogs out when I give it gas .so what am I doing wrong? why wont idle screw work for idle

check when you have your radio on that the idle arm is resting on the idle screw.

If it is turn down your radio throttle button unlit it rest on the idle screw.

How many turns is stock setting for idle screw? Throttle seems to be touching idle screw and still high idle so want to make all settings stock then try tuneing all over again well started truck again and still no response from idle screw could I have my linkage lever in wrong position its straight up and down? I have no idea
