I have an mt5 truck & would like to know if any one has installed the high response clutch & spring? It's only $40.00 but not sure if it will help truck get out of the hole quicker ! I have a CPI tuned exhaust & hi flow air cleaner - Thanks

I also have the HPI clutch spring and shoe kit, with a jetpro side pipe and a TGN air fliter with stack... Awesome combo!

Thanks a lot , Good info &product looks good. - I will order it & let you know results Thanks

Nice choice!

I think you'll be very happy with it !

Also have the HPI 8000 Rpm Clutch Spring. Great Upgrade! Why not just replace your spring for $8, have a spare spring (You get "2" in a Pack) and best of all more money to spend on parts!

I've seen some pics of people putting the 8000 spring into their stock shoes, and it's all bent and jacked. It works fine i'm sure, but not my style.

The HPI lightweigth shoes that go with that spring will give you even better lauch, it's just sick on the XT that's for sure. You can also run them backwards for a lot more hookup and less slipage.

The light weight shoes are cut down a lot shorter on the amount of material between the mounting hole for the spring, and the open cavity were it sits. I struggeled for 45 mins with the stock shoes and the 8000 rpm spring, the first turn in the spring kept getting bound up on the inner edge of the shoe. With the light weight shoes, it pops right in.

Also, the HPI shoes don't have and innner and outer lip that the shoe halfs seat into each other when closed like the stock one does. This make snapping them back together a sinch. Some people feel the spring looses it's tension after so many hours, so to swap it out is easy. I got mine from DDM online for $31 with a bigger order so free shipping. http://www.davesmotors.com/s.nl/c.885035/n.1/it.A/id.60/.f

I can get some sid by side pics tonight as i have my engine off the car, and i have the stock shoes laying there

I completely agree that the 8000 RPM Spring is a beotch to put on the stock shoes but when you don't have the money at the it works just fine. I haven't had an issue since I installed it. Eventually I will get the proper shoes.......Gotta have money! LOL. If you have the money (unlike this disabled vet) I would purchase the lightweight shoes and spring....

I prefer the lightened shoes, but the stock shoes can be done a LOT easier with a large pair of channel locks to bring the shoes into alignment. Just don't grip on the friction material. Takes 10 seconds no matter which shoe. My biggest complaint with the stock shoes is that they don't react as quick as the lightened ones do.

That works good. That's how I have done it in the past. Now I'm just lazy and only use a new set. LOL

I really think all you need is a vise grip locked onto one shoe and push on the floor with your body weight and snaps in so easily

I believe you Chue...I my self use bare hands but channel locks are a bonus when your hands cant even scratch your butt without cramping lol.

I have worn my hands down pretty good trying to do this as well... I have a couple of extra clutches here at the house and when I need to install a spring or something I might go through all of them before I get one to play along... silly clutches, don't they know that their job is to get in the truck and make it go...? :D

I think they do that's why there stubborn. They don't wanna spin and have to keep opening haha
