i just tuned up my xb and was testing it out in an empty parking lot. damn that thing was fast. i got a little carried away with my drifting and hit a curb head on at a pretty high speed. :(

i can't see any damage apart from a few scratches, but i did notice that it was no longer moving forward in a straight line and that one wheel of the front wheels was wobbling. also, when i turn the front wheels by hand while the servos are off, the steering "skips" when the wheels pass the steering center... sort of feels like a stripped gear somewhere.

i haven't opened it up yet but does anyone have an idea as to what i damaged? are there any plastic gears in the steering?

OUCH!

is there any way i can make sure it's the servo? i thought the steering servo had steel gears...

the linkages look pretty solid as far as i can tell. i prefer to keep the stock plastic parts for now as they can flex more than aluminum.

Check out the servo horn. The servo has metal gears, so the servo horn would be the weak spot. Otherwise, you'll have to crack open the servo and inspect the gears.
