bought one to use as throttle brake,, did test with a new flysky gt3b with a half or less charged nimh battery,,, and also hooked up a 5765,,, both work,, except,, the 7954 sits and ticks slowly,, increased as I make it move,, tried two recievers,, and another brand of radio, does same thing,, if I move it and put my finger on servo horn to create resistance,, than it ticks even more,,, is it junk??? or would fully charging battery help,, have a charger coming fri, along with a killer rc 7.4v

I charged up my 6v battery , hooked it up,, still does it,, seems to move normal, just ticks like a Geiger counter,, tick tick,, and when u move it or put tension on it with your finger,, it ticks more than too,,, its not as bad as it was,, but still does it,, ,, annoying, just listening to it tick,,, my 5765 is nice and quiet, just moves back and forth, no issues

Could it be the spline slipping in the horn? It could also be internals gears skipping.

Does it always return to center?

it will do it just sitting there,, tick tick,, and tension I put on it is just my finger bumping up against the horn,,, does with any horn,, stock one,, a pro racers edge pro horn,,,,, heard this maybe normal,,,,seems to move ok, etc, just ticks a lot

static position, holding a standing load still has action ...tension free should be quiet. maybe a slight hum. the return spring on throttle could be adding tension. if u remove load, is it silent load free? if so the tension in the set up is too high. if its ticking load free(at center) --->u got damaged goods.

it ticks, don't have any tension on it at all, no servo horn on it,,, ill try to get a video,,, battery on,, its quiet as long as radio is off,, once turn on radio,, ticking starts,,, whether u have connected to throttle/ brake or not

I removed from vehicle,,,, upon closer inspection,, if u watch very closely,, u can see the servo horn tip twitch ,,very very slightly and barely noticeable,,,,, and if u put your finger on case where wire comes out of it,, im guessing where motor is,,, u can feel it pulse making the ticking sound, and everytime it twitches slightly,, it make the sound and u can feel it,, im guessing this isn't normal, would suck since its brand new,, just took out of box

called hitec,,, let them listen on the phone,,,, its normal,,,,, not sure a servo sounding like a Geiger counter is normal,,, than was asked what I was putting it in,,, told him,, well u cant hear it when is running can u,,,, not impressed,,,, said all digital servos do it,,,,,,,,

ive just ran it,, other than being bit annoying when sitting still, obviously cant hear it when running,, but seems to work good so far,,,

From what I have read so far, if the servo horn is still moving and it does not sound like grinding gears then what you are experiencing is normal.

The Hs-7954 is a high voltage, High Torque, High Resolution Servo. The hum or ticking hum sound is the servo wining from ambient stress. Stress can be as simple as a spring return, or a screw on the control horn being 2 tight, or some sort of pressure against the servo. If you notice if you press the servo horn when it is not wining it will start to wine. Do not be to alarmed about the wining Alot of plane guys experience the same issue and i vary rarely get a high resolution servo that does not wine some time or another.

If you are really concerned you can send it in to Hitec, but I would not worry about it to much. If your are real concerned you can install an optical kill switch on your car which is highly recommended for safety reasons and to help protect your investment in your fun.
