Well this is a general question...Do you drill hole in your 1/5 scale rims?
I mean on the inside of rim..Not in the tire..I know in nitro world this helped with tire inflation
..Yeah I know about water and sand getting in the rim....
I know some times with out holes..you can get flat spots in your tires....
So give me your thoughts on this....AKA Slawhammer:2guns::2guns:

most of us don't. one it allows a place for water to get in and really weight up the tire as well as make it out of balance. i go as far as using shoo goo to seal up the bead areas to keep the air/water/dirt/mud/poop out of the rim/foam areas.

Ok I was just wondering here with 1/5 scale stuff..Thanks for your reply..

Will I have holes in my wheels from the inside, and I did not drill them.
If there are no holes how do you get by the temp difference? Air expands and retracts.
With the bed lock tiers (the HPI Baja) it is not air tait so it is ok.

In all my nitros I use a leather punch to punch 2 holes in the tire at opposite ends as this helps with tire deforming and if your wheels already have holes in them, then making 2 holes in the tyres will also let any water exit through the tyre as the water will naturally run to the tyre holes when running your car.
A lot of rallycross racers also do this, however I haven't done this with my FG's as the marder tyres and stadium tyres are much thicker material and don't deform as much as a small nitro.
I hope this helps mate.
Danny.

thing is the torque is SO much stronger in the gasser, holes in the rubber will tend to lead to tears. if you were to punch a hole in the HPI tires, it would split, spit the foam and tear. you could do the rim but again, its an inlet for dirt, which will kill the foams, and make the tires way out of balance.

the FG off road tires May take a hole better, but its not an issue really as Mr Moff stated the tires are thicker on this type (compared to the baja tires).

you can try it, but imo, i think you ll soon be pluggin the holes in the rims (i recommend shoo goo) and the tires or getting new rubber if the holed ones explode. all you can do is try and and report back.

With vid please. heh.

The tires that are made in Europe are mainly belted tires. This is why they don't expand like nitro tires. The are also more expensive. In over 4 years of runnig LS I'v never torn a tire. I've had FG's,Harm, Lauterbacher, PMT and KCR tires.

No if you run a Baja that's a whole new issue.

The only reason I asked this question was the wheels and tires I got from e-bay have no name on tires that say FG..There rubber..don't feel real hard..So I would think that in this case you would want a hole in the inside of rim like in nitro..Yeah there a knock off set
There even advertized here on this site in the banners...think 59 a set..
Thanks for your replys....AKA Slawhammer

do you vent your rims/tires Selwa?

Nope. All my wheels are glued and have no holes. They work very well. If you have the right compound of tire you will have great traction which is why I have a few different styles too.

If I had a Baja I'd switch to the Euro wheels right away. Beadlock are nice but I haven't ever seen any Euro races with them. Elcon make a rim for the Baja and it's still one piece.

Hole in Rims

Never have. You may not want to on the DTX and Smartex either.

Selwa is talking a hole other grade of RC tire. I agree with "T" it will tear eventually. The FG MT tires are thicker and you may get away with it but I have had them with out for years with no problems.

Either way good luck!:)
I never have in the tire..But the backside of wheel rim I have..
What I got looks like just plain soft rubber molded ..pushes in real easy with thumb...I have for a couple years with nitro stuff..cuz getting flat spots on tire if you did not have a hole to help expand the tire,,,That is the main reason for asking this question..Yes Fg orig tire ..maybe better built to begin with..
