I ran my redcat rampage mt5 today for first time! The break in tanks took forever but the 4th and 5th tank were aloooot of fun this thing is a beast! Took me a few days to go through it and loctite everything but so so so worth the wait my lst is gonna be aweful lonly from now on lol so glad i took the leap to 5th scale! !!!!:D

great stuff mate, oh and no body takes more than 1 tank to break in. most people don't even do a break in but I like to heat cycle the motor for 1 tank and then drive it like its stolen :D

glad your enjoying it!

For break in all I do is let it ripp... I drive it like I stole it..... The buggy starts on the second pull everytime... Thats what is nice with a 2 stroke.. Just like my dirty bikes I have always ran them hard and never really had issuses with them. My buddy use to say you had to do a break in, but when he did it for his bike and ran it nice he ended up with a lot of engine issuses... Don't know if he was just unlucky or because of the breakin, but mine are all running like a champ.

im going to assume you came from a nitro background. these motors are a lit different, having a ring instead of a pinch fit break in is much different. to get the ring to seat in you actually need to put a load on the motor, and running too rich can cause the ring not to seat properly. this is why most people fire them up and run them hard. i take it a little easy, although you have to with a touring car.

these motors arent that far off a chainsaw or weed eater. ever heard of a tree faller or lawn care guy taking it easy on new equipment?

That was actually a big buying factor for me believe it or not. I tried to wear out a weedeater when I was a kid, I'm pretty sure it can't be done.

Yes i have a nitro background but i have work in logging and they don't go balls to the wall on a new saw on first tank they take it easy for first tank but maybe thats just a hoosier thing lol (im not try to offend any one just explaining my method of think even if it is bass akwards)

its all good mate. taking it easy for too long aint good for it either, but by the sounds of things the engine is running fine so im sure no harm done.

my first tank i run 10 min intervals, slowly increase with each interval how much throttle im giving it, by third interval im hitting full WOT but not keeping it there long, by fourth interval ive just about finished a tank and driving it as I normally would, i never spend more than 1 tank on break in.
