Horizon Hobby has the Losi 5-T 2.0 on 40th anniversary sale for $999.99 for the orange version only. $600 off is insane.

This is very unfortunate. Losi is making a grave mistake alienating a huge part of their customer base by leaving us hanging like this with no explanation whatsoever. Either way they should have announced whether they are replacing the 2.0 with a new truck or not. Looks like a need to find a used one then.

I mean I could buy a Rovan Terminator 5T and save some money? It looks pretty cool. My neighbors have a HPI Baja 5T all tricked out and they’ve run it for years. Still works great. We use to pull the 1/5 scales out a half dozen times a year in rip around a makeshift track between our properties before hurricane Ian. His RC collection survived but mine didn’t. Lost 80% of the contents of our house. Now that we are completely rebuilt and practically hurricane proof, I am ready to got back to 1/5 scale. At least this truck will scratch the itch, lol.

I myself think that the world of battery power and brushless motors are killing the hobby for the dedicated fuel burners.
Today it seems to be plug in a battery and play. The days of knowing how to maintain and tune an actual engine seems to be fading away.

Look at nitro 1/8 or 1/10 scale , the options there get more and more limited on what seems like a daily basis.

Technology is great but I think it bit our hobby in the azz.
I think there's more to it.

Traxxas and horizon hobby has been selling speed and power for decades now. Nothing says power like a 15hp electric motor in a miniz. People are moving away from the realistic or scale aspect of it into "this isn't fun if it doesn't do 150". When talking to someone about my xr5 they asked how fast then was offended that I paid that much for something so slow.

So if you look across the industry you've got a bunch of uninteresting chassis with little to no development for years if not decades with the most powerful electric motor they can stuff into it.

I think the have to go fast mentality is what is killing gas and nitro

I wish Losi would bring back the 1/5 TLR 5ive B buggy. In any event, 30 D North still has the 5T. However, I’ve never had a 30DN so unsure how the quality compares to Losi.

Well, just before I was going to order a Baja 5T, my nephew called me and said he was looking at a LOSI 5T sitting on a shelf new in box at his local hobby shop in Texas. I immediately told him to buy it and sent him the money via PayPal. It is now out for delivery and expected today. Stroke of luck! I did have to pay the full $1599 and shipping but I’d say it’s well worth it. I just got back from my storage unit looking through some of the things we had salvaged from our destroyed house after hurricane Ian. I still have all my RC tools in excellent shape as well as a set of wheels and tires for the 5T, three radio systems and a bunch for other parts that were all in sealed DEWALT tool boxes that didn’t get flooded. I think I’m back in business. I may still get that Baja 5T though, lol.

I see they are removed from Amain and Horicon web sites. I might have to go with the 30dn. My 5t v1.0 is starting to show its age.

DDM still shows them in stock .

I know a guy selling a roller with approximately $1400 in installed ipgrades / new in packaging upgrades and new in packaging spare oem parts.

Having experience with large scale electric , dxle 2.0, while amazing, yet my biggest mistake. Had 2 grand into it just to make it dependable...... For the 5 to 10 minutes runtime, 2 to 3 hours of battery charging time with super expensive and undependable batteries I'll never go back. Can run my 2 strokes all day, revo good for 15 minutes but just keep tank full and keep going. X-maxx is different, 30 to 40 minutes depending on how hard of a whooping it's getting. But as for large, 1/5 scale, gas is only way...... just my 2 cents on subject. I think with the 5t clones closing in on price getting close to losi, it's tuff decision on purchasing one,but they are a viable one.

Im planning on getting an XRT or Xmax. Probably the XRT because im a truggy guy.

If I understand it correctly, after installing the wide maxx kit on the the x-maxx, plus xrt steering knuckle/carriers, they are very similar. Highly recommend turning the avc, traction control, whatever traxxas calls it off, saves steering servo. Definitely pull pinion and drive grub screw in with pinion off shaft. Re locktite and enjoy it. Smashed gears on both mine and granddaughters x-maxx before I figured out grub screw issue.

Good to know, thank you.

Check cheese city for a Losi 2.0, we should be getting a Losi 5ivet 3.0 in 2026 or even longer because the tariffs. We had years at a time with zero stock before lol, the aftermarket makes pretty much everything for the 5ivet. The rear cases are about the only thing the clones change too much to use racing.

Losi prob wants to keep any changes hidden because of the clones but horizon still has a large scale division and rumor is the all ready have the new rc built they are just testing. You can buy a 5ivet 2.0 and be good racing for 5 years probably. The changes in the scte 2.0 and 3.0 are slight I think they will add those changes which means new chassis or hole placement , shock refinement. If Losi doesn’t come out with a 3.0 the clones just need to get the rear cases right and that would be the go to replacement but I prefer not to yet.

We are getting new tracks every month it seems, 1/5 racing will continue next year as planned.

All good thanks. We are 99% whole again. Just fighting with the insurance company on the windows and doors that still need replacing and they are not being forthcoming with the last payout. Had to take them to court. Our last court date is in November and looks like they will settle.
