Hostiles Are Heavy

After mounting up the Hostile Slicks they really felt heavy, so I weighed them. Keep in mind that the aluminum rings on the front weigh about 50 grams. This set up weighs more than an aluminum rim with Prolines.


First set:


Plastic Wheel (5b front)


Plastic inner beadlock


Aluminum outer beadlock


Hostile slick with hostile foam.

Check this out....

I am adding unwanted weight. It's over twice the weight of the stock wheels. Keep in mind the foams are probably just powder.

You call that heavy....

Those are light compared to my KingMotor Aluminum rims with aluminum beadlocks and aluminum wheel nut.

I believe it. Here is what the rears weigh in at. Rear aluminum wheel aluminum beadlocks and a aluminum nut.

Thank's RCDAD... I feel better now.

My wheels on my XB-E are 10grams lighter than yours are with the proline bowties on them... And I didn't have to cut anything...

Of course... one run could load them up with sand or mud and could put the weight up even higher.

Look at it this way.... At least you have the weight on the bottom so it keeps the center of gravity low...

That is true. I run those front aluminums on my XB. It seems more controllable jumping with the heavier wheels. I mostly run them at the park in the grass so they stay looking good. I swap out to a plastic set for the dirt.

I don't get to run the RCs as much as some do. Plus I'm lucky enough to have multiple vehicles, which means less drive time per vehicle, so they will most likely last years.
 
hostile might be heavey but i bet they out last most other tyres :)

im running hostile slicks(med) all round, boy do they grip!!

usually a set of hpi tarmac busters will last 2-3 weekends(only grip properly for 1 day till they start sliding about tho) at the track before they wear tho to the foam, but these hostiles are still gripping just aswell from the day i fitted, don't i don't think im gonna be replacing them for a looooonngggggg time =D i love them! id reccomend the slicks to any1

(few people are running the same set of hostiles slicks for over a year on there bajas, id love to know how long the off-road hostile tyres last!)
