How aggressive gearing could I put in?

The MT now has a 30.5 ESP Zenoah 4.5hp and Jetpro v2 tuned pipe.
It has lots off spare power, but not great speed.
Keep in mind that It has the 4x4 conversion kit, how could I gear it for higher speed without losing the torque?

And to all a good night :) At least here in Norway the night has arrived

Is it stock gearing right now? What is the layshaft gear? 14 or 16? You can change that one right away to a 16 and make a bit of a difference.

yeah, just change the one gear, saves the expense of buying 2! (a new pinion n spur). i'm sure my 4x4 kit came with a 16tooth layshaft gear, i know i kept the same 19/44 gearing and just upped it from a 14 to the 16tooth on the layshaft. it has a ported zenoah 26cc with a massive long length curly jetpro (and a few other bits here n there), it's mental!!! fitting the 4x4 kit has deffo helped to get the best out of the engine as there's a clear difference in how fast the MB gets off the line and around the track :) the kit compliments the engine's performance to a treat.
best £250 i've spent on an RC!

Yes it's stock right now. Don't know for the layshaft gear. I put in the one that came with the 4x4 kit. But it's covered by a shield so I must pull the engine to count the teeth. But I suspect it to be 16 tooth.

I'm sure it is mate yeah?? maybe it's written in the instructions. I remember it being slightly larger than the standard one. Your top end's improved anyway! With the engine having so much torque u can afford to give the MT longer legs and up gearing, try 19/44, works wonders on my MB.

here's a quick vid of it on a track we had. we wondered why things were a bit wobbly (the steering), afterwards we found the steering servo had come loose and was only held on by 1 screw, oops! my fault lol...

anyway, try this link to youtube

if that doesn't work, search for "Torque Raceway" and you'll see "Yellow Peril tests the turf" somewhere in the list. that was with it in 2WD aswell, i fitted the conversion just after, i must get around to doing a video of it...

oh! hey that's clever, i've just figured out how you lot put video's on here, ha! i typed in a link and up it comes. crikey, learn something every day eh...:o

Great video!! Great track!! Tanks a lot!

I fine tuned it some today, still had it a bit on the rich side as it is a new engine, and it opened up quite a bit :):) As it runs now I don't see the need of more aggressive gearing, but I'm sure I will do it anyway ;) hahaha

nice one mate! having it a bit rich will never hurt, i'd sooner it be on the rich side than too lean...
with having the longer gearing, as your engine has more torque, it'll still accelerate very quickly, and also have a higher top end speed. mine went from 16/48 to 19/44, and there's a noticeable difference. with what's been done to the engine it has a quick rate of acceleration right through the rev range, it's great!

Hello again t2boats :) checked the layshaft gear just now and to my suprise the 4x4 kit came with a 14 tooth gear. Buying a 16 tooth tomorrow ;)

I've checked mine and it came with a 16tooth layshaft gear...? Odd eh.. The kit I ordered was for the FG Monster Beetle. Can't remember but was yours the same? As I'm running leopard wheels, the 16tooth gear serves it better, unless I had a monster wheels on then I'd change it back to a 14tooth gear :-)

I bought both 19/44 and a 20 for 20/44, what would give the highest top speed?
Installing them now, and want to try the setup with highest top speed first :)
