How do I know if my clutch is burnt out??

I switched the 35 and 25 gears, (a&b) but ran it for a few minutes on black top, no dirt, and I started smelling a nasty burning, I know it was the clutch but how do I know if they are still good or not, I changed the gears back but it wont start so I couldn't try it again.....I also have the 8k spring on the clutch as well
 
i told ya it was too much gear. i guess take a look at it and see if there is any shoe left on there. you most likley just glazed the crap out of it. take a little sand paper to the shoes and inside the clutch bell. lol and order some 29/31s!!!!
