I am thinking about changing piston ring on my Zenoah 260 and I want to know how to do this?

How do you remove the old piston ring easiest?
How do you put the new ring on the piston (with your hands or?)
Should the piston ring be placed in a specific way (should the gap in the ring be toward the exhaust or intake side?)
Anythin else to think about when changing the ring?

I need all the help I can get

How do you remove the old piston ring easiest? Take it off with your finger nails.

How do you put the new ring on the piston (with your hands or?) Hands. Making sure the ring ends are on the piston ring pin in the side of the piston. You will see it when you take it apart and look at where the old ring is set.

Should the piston ring be placed in a specific way (should the gap in the ring be toward the exhaust or intake side?) The pin will only allow you to set it in the grove one way. You do not need to remove the piston.

Anything else to think about when changing the ring? Clean the motor very, very well to make sure debris does not get into the lower end. Check the lower end with a flash light to make sure no debris is down there before re-assembly. Check the piston and sleeve real well for deep grooves or damage. Clean off any loose carbon from the top of the piston. Use a new head gasket and carb gaskets.

Its really easy just time consuming getting everything surgically clean 1st.

Thanks Bigger the Better :)

Madhampster: Yes, I have already seen those videos. They are excellent but the problem is that they do everything except for changing piston ring

One more question concerning this:

Då you open up the ring så that you could place the ring on the piston or do you more like push it in place?
