Yesterday my brother and my nephew dodged a bullet. On their way to the landfill to empty a load, their trailer started swaying uncontrollably, my brother attempted to gain control by slowing down and...Jackknife. The truck rolled 4 times. Both of them walked away with minor cuts and bruises.

in the first photo-- that truck is a long way fron the road! - nothing but soft sand to start digging into as soon as ya drop off the edge of the asphalt. darned lucky to be alive.

Glad their okay, to see that old beast retire is sad! Haven't seen one of those in years. Thanks to the road salt eating cars here in upstate New York.

It was a 5'x14' single axle trailer with a full load. They're still trying to figure out what happened, but according to them it felt like the wind caught the trailer and pushed it. There were wind advisories that day and the trailer did have a tarp strapped to it, so it seems possible but who knows. They were the only vehicle on that road when it happened, so no witnesses.

Sort of a funny side note. My brother managed to hold onto his lit cigarette during the whole ordeal. He finished smoking it while trying to find a way out of the truck. And he was a little irritated when he saw the trailer safely parked on the side of the road like nothing happened. He was even more irritated when he saw that the load was still strapped onto the trailer. So...He still has to go to the landfill.

Yeah, they don't make them like they used to. He loves that truck. He's already looking for parts to fix it. Ahaha.
