Going to try running RWD for awhile. I've removed the front dog bones (or CVD's) but I want to remove the front drive shaft so I won't have the friction/resistance of turning the front diff. Tried looking at the PDF parts diagram, but can't even see them on there.

I noticed there's 1 set screw on the front and rear yokes. Do I have to remove BOTH yokes? (front one looks a pain in the ass to get to).

Removing the front shaft will require the removal of the front diff.

Remove the screws in chassis, braces / top plate and slid the whole thing (wheels, shocks, shock mounts, control arms as a unit) out the front to gain access to shaft. The drive cups can remain in place.

Note: Did you get your cage welded, if not I could help with that.

Damn! I was worried I was going to have to do that.

No, the truck got side lined for a while because of a basement (mancave) remodel. I did see awhile back I had a notification in my email you sent me a PM but I couldn't find it anywhere?! Where in MI are you located?

Its probably easiest to undo the 5 screws under the chassis holding the front bumper and tower assembly. The bumper, bulkhead, shock tower and suspension all will come off the chassis as one big unit.

Crazyfast,

It really is easy to do, just a few screws.

I am located in Rives Junction, about 20 miles south of Lansing. I actually sent an email but also remember you telling me that it was not the best method of contacting. But at least at least you got the note.
