Yeah expect the "NEW" BAJA new and improved, Now with a carbon wing, aluminum cap, clear spur gear cover, two stage air filter, "RACE EDITION"... LOLz

Most, not all, hobby shops will sell and then you are on your own. Take somr pics and post them up.
Look at the Losi manual, I am pretty sure no grease goes into those two gears, if anything chain lube which is a fine protective film. You jumped into a scale which requires significant wrenching at the beginning of the hobby, else you will end up with premature failure of parts.
If there is another hobby shop nearby just take it for a second opinion, don't say you just bought it nearby.
Page 85 of Losi manual says warranty is void if service by someone not authorized. Remedy is to repair/service the part at a authorized HH shop. You can call HH and tell them you are taking it back to the hobby shop w proof of purchase of course.
But Ill be honest, unless its something major like a cracked chassis, or seized engine, part of this hobby involves taking the time to disassemble , do a thorough inspection, check no bolt or nut is stripped. FYI there is a disclaimer on HH site about certain bolts which need to be a specific length, wont hurt to check out.
