hi, im new to rc cars, don't know much about them or the parts. just bought a shengqi hummer from nitrotek.co.uk. everything was fine whilst running in on first tank, then it cut out and i couldn't get it started again. my dad said to clean or buy a new spark plug but i cant see anything wrong with it as its still sparking. just wanted to know what you guys think and if there's anything else i can try to get this engine going.

hi matey what colour is it? if it's black then it runnin to rich, it needs to be a nice light brown colour. if your plug fires outside the engine it doesn't mean the plug is good as the spark can be weak and can be blown out under compresion, i would advise and this is only my opinion matey is to reset you carb settins back to as it says in the owners manual and replace the spark plug :cool2:

If its new you have probably flooded it.Take the plug out, turn it over and pull for about 20 pulls.I'd leave the plug out overnight but shove something in the hole to stop poop getting in.

+1 Charlieboy, sparkplug is always a first with me....

Im still running the same plug i got with it a year ago ...

make sure the petrol tank filler cap is vented, i.e got a little hole in it. if it aint the tank will vacuim causing fuel starvation. been there done that:clown:

hi, thanks for the quick replies. the colour of the spark plug was black, i wouldnt know how to make it less rich? does that mean less oil, because i have followed manual with the mix ratio? i have ordered a few of the same spark plugs (CMR7H NGK) i should get them in the post by monday.

oil/fuel mix ratio is 1litre petrol +25ml oil.

That is a 40:1 mix. Most on here use 25:1 which is 40ml oil to 1L petrol

25-1 and lean the needle if carb is black. clockwise is leaning. lots of info on this site about tuning and carb colors...

I do it the easy math way. 2.5l fuel to 100ml oil ...2.5l is 2500 ml. so 250 to 10 or 25 to 1

You have probably flooded the engine as i did not so long back. Its easy done, and easily fixed. I tried turning the truk up the other way and pulling the chord but it did not work. Then i found on another forum a different method which started it immdeatily and cured the flooding.

Now this will sound crazy. But it will work!!! Firstly remove the air filter, then remove the two long screws which hold the carbuerettor on. NOw pull the carb away. Next try to start the truck. You should find the engine will start easy. It will rev like crazy and then stop. You have now cleared the flooded engine. Now refit the carb and filter, and start it.

There you go. Trust me its great and worked for me!!!!!
