This HY 30.5 piston has been ringed 2 times- burned about 5 gallons of fuel tru it - always ethanol free- 927@ 25-1. This HY has been tru the mill- Intake leaks- several base gasket blow outs- lean runs - when it had not rained in 7 months to boot. You can see where the piston is starting to rock in the bore a little bit. The clutch side crank seal was letting go- It may not be the most powerful engine- But for $500 bucks for a rtr buggy- shes a solid 10 in my book! - I snagged up some pull off parts last winter- 35 mm bore ready for the 30mm stuffer crank-Nachi bearings- hope the plating holds up as good as the HY has---
 
I had intake leaks - it was a total dust bowl here- sorta honed the poor thing. lol! But we do have a bunch of tools- and parts. I try to buy pull-offs when i can, complete top end-$35 bucks. F270 4 bolt top end pull off- $40 bucks- When ya get cheap back up parts- and work on your own engines- Its stress free- I run the guts outta engines- WOT for 30 seconds at a time- or more, I have held the XB wot for nearly an entire tank of gas running on a huge smooth snow covered field!! - My engines are free of carbon build up- even running 927!!

I got 10g thru mine with pipe on track , overall impressed comparing to Full mod Zen 30.5 OBR eating the ring in just 10 tanks race time but way more power tho.
 
engine life

Thats the downside to agressive porting- the ring is not supported as much.piston either. Been running a F-270 a little- added a lightly modded 990-3/4" velocity stack-jet-pro rear. Quite impressive really- I will flog this puppy for 4-5 tanks, then disassemble and take a look- ring it- install Nachi bearings-zen seals- ect. Me thinks the venrable f-270 revs to the moon-lol.
 
Also added a gitzmo lightened flywheel- bought his intake-did a little dental work to accept a zen steel reinforced gasket-intake to jug- a very short intake track- For every ones information- Large scale has top end pull offs agan- Cy-35mm bore machined for 30 mm rod- 35 bucks! - f 270 pull offs also. they sell fast!
