I just ordered an xb and I'm planing on making it a speed demon.

I want to throw on a ported top end, but was wondering what ported/modified topends fit the stock 30cc hy bottom end??? I know 4 bolt top ends wont work but are there any 2 bolt cy ported top ends that will fit?

you must watch when installing CY headkits.. HY did not make these the same as the CY. When you install the CY head you will notice alot more clearance between the outer diameter of the cylinder that slides into the block. You'll need to spend a little time centering the cylinder head and make sure nothing rubs when rotating the crank.

Thanks for the tip! :)

And I found this reed ported OBR top end: http://www.vancouverhobbies.com/repo28topend1.html

I'm assuming it would fit as well?

Reed port worth it?

Thanks ;)

you are asking for trouble if you are assuming the build tolerances will match a Zenoah or even a CY...I would swap out the motor with a Zenoah, if needed, until somebody proves that the HY engines are on par with a CY. BTW, gearing is the key to make the XB perform well...I ran a tall gear initially with the stock setup and it was fast as hell but I went through drive bearings. Currently, the drivetrain has been upgraded and I feel that, the smallish tank dimensions excluded, the XB is still a contender for racing.

FYI, I am still running the OEM(HY) motor a year later and I am just thinking about to upgrade (go figure)

Thanks for your input man! I guess I'll just order new hy parts then, even though I was looking for a ported cylinder. Oh well :p

I would go with the cy parts too as there not blueprinted engines (fine tolerance) and you will still gain alot of performance from any ported head kit.

Well if people here actually tested them, and they work, then I will go with cy.

What do ya mean by test them? There are many on here that build their own engines and have had great results.

Well has anyone actually used a cy top end on the hy bottom end? Without ANY mods other then gaskets?

Also, are the cranks interchangeable with cy's? (again, I want input from people that have done this stuff already).

Thanks for all the input so far guys :D

I am running Zenoahs so I can't confirm that the Cy and Hy are exactly the same but I would be confident that parts are interchangeable. I do hope some one can confirm this for you.

Hi guys im a bit new here and I been following this thread. Can any 1 tell me the names of these motors, 1 is a km baja 29.5cc

And the 2nd I a himoto 8505 short course and is a 28cc pro. Would like to do work on both but cant for the life of me figure each 1. Name of engines, that is. So I can buy some good gear for them. Stroker kits if available and poted heads. Bigger carbs. And the himoto alawys seems to lack power and is fully run in and no I haven't raped it lol the km on the other hand has had a hard run lol, but she seems to love a good floging. Cheers guys.

rc is no hobby its a disease
