I am looking into upgrading the breaks on my FG Baja to Hydraulic breaks on front and rear and just have a question about servos. I am currently running a JR DS8711 on the throttle/break. Since I will need to purchase another servo should I get another DS8711 or should I use a Hitec HS-5955TG servo? I already have that Hitec servo on my HPI Baja. What I would be able to do is swap the servos between the FG and HPI and then get another Hitec to run hydraulic breaks. Or should I just get another DS8711? Reason I ask is I believe that hydraulic breaks do not need a much torque that the JR servo puts out and it would be better used in the HPI and save me some money. Any and all opinions would be greatly appreciated.

Wow hmmm... Such a weak servo is ok for hydraulic breaks? Anyone else?

I would like to make a note that I want digital servos so that I can use my fail safe built into my Futaba 3PM among other options.

Hydro s require significantly less torque because the force does not come from tension like the Cable Brake s. I have known people who ran Hydro s with servo s with less than 100 oz. of torque.

If I were you i would go with the 5645 or 5745 for your hydro s. You want overkill either one will do

When I looked at the specs between the two the 5645=Torque: 164.2 oz/in at 6V and the 645=Torque:133.31 oz/in at 6.0V (9.6kg/cm). You are also looking at about a 17$ price difference.

The 5745 is for steerings since it is a 1/4 scale servo. I already have a great 1/4 scale servo for steerings. I will look into the 5645MG though.

Some people do use the 1/4 servo for the rear stock brakes, front hydros and throttle all in one.....you just have to modify the servo tray to accept the servo make the hole bigger:)....thats definatly over kill:blush:

So then whats to stop me from using a JR DS8711 for both front/rear hydro breaks and throttle?
 
I will probably save myself some headache and just go with a 2 servo route and an aluminum or carbon fiber radio tray using 2 5645 or just get another 5955 for the ultimate overkill. I will decide once I get the hydraulic breaks.

5645's have always been my choice. As for Hydro's I'd just get front hydros and keep the rear stock or upgrade to the steel disk in the rear.
 
My rear breaks gave out after about 30 minutes of use and I don't have the slightest clue as to why so I am going with all 4.
