I "had" a small gun safe on top of my dresser. I kept both pistols in there and other important documents like birth certiicates and vehicle titles etc. It is battery powered and was opened by pressing a series of 4 buttons. It also has a key to open it in case of a power failure. Well my key got bent up, a few months ago, when my key chain got ran over.

Wednesday night I went to open the safe to get the title for our 94 Dodge Caravan. We were going to be trading it in on a 99 Chevrolet Silverado, No power to the buttons. Now I am all mad because I am going to have to destrpy the safe to get the title out....

Thursday morning I was up early and down to the garage with the safe...wondering what I am going to have to do to get it open. I was actually disappointed with how quickly I got into it. The lock was made of soft metal. I used a 3/4 drill bit a fresh battery in the 19.2 volt Craftsman drill and was in in about 30 seconds.

Anyway here is the truck I got:

It has 53,000 miles and a 4.8L V8. The dealer is going to get me a center cap for the RF wheel. I'm not used to all the power pulling out at intersections...easily spins the tires. It has some rust on the lower rear cab corners but that can be fixed. Some of my co-workers are gear heads and I can probably bribe them with beer to help me fix them.

The bank wouldn't give us a loan for the truck by itself for more than 3 years so what they did was combine that loan with the loan for our 03 Kia van. The payment is only $175 more than what the van was.

well sounds like you had a hell of an experiance. I bought a 03' expedition with a 5.4 and man you talk about a difference from a 95' rodeo to this tank. she'll get out in traffic quite quickly for a cow. LOL

Yeah, I would have been happy with the V6 but I thought I better pick this one up while I can.

Does anyone have experience with programmers? I know the ones like Bully Dog re-tune the engine. I also found some that claim to slightly adjust the air fuel mixture so that it isn't running rich and thus wasting gas.

How about a cold air intake? Noticable difference?

fueleconomy.gov says 19 MPG highway. We shall see.

I'm a Mustang enthusiest and I can say the best bang for the buck for gas mileage and extra horsepower would be to remove your extra cat converters. I had 4 on my Stang and legally I only need two. IT only comes with 4 so that the car will be legal if you move to some goofy ass place like California. If you can weld or know somebody that can it's dam near a free job.

After that I would say the next best thing would be a cold air intake with a decent filter.

nice rig. its pretty clean with low miles too. that truck will go forever after the trans is rebuilt. when i had my metal roofing company i had a chevy 3500 dually with a duramax and dual 6" stacks. on a good day it got 12mpg.

It already only has 2 cat converters. I see that Flowmaster and the like make high flow ones. They seem expensive though.

Yeah, I was looking at a cold air intake also. They are $100 at JEGS.

The shop I use to work in had a "sample" safe just like yours, easily opened by prying up the rubber finger pad and jig it open with a small screwdriver. Could'nt sell it, knowing how easy it was to get into.

Hey Moo,

You should go to a Ford. My '01 7.3L Powerstroke has a 575HP and 980 lb/ft of torque, and is still tame enough to pull a big load. 24mpg unloaded is nice also.
