I am a member of LSF, MCD Racing Forum, HPIBajaForum and Northwest Offroad RC Club Forum.

I personally prefer LSF to HPIBajaForum as it covers most makes clones and OEM's inc. HPI. I have no axe to grind for or against clones.

Maybe what has been said upto now will help BlakeyB get an insight into how tempers can flair over the OEM/Clone debate.

What is wrong with you people? Why can't you just leave the crap where it belongs? You are all a bunch of 2 year olds acting like someone stole your toy. You go from forum to forum slinging your crap around it's ridiculous.

It's no wonder why no one wants to work with you anymore. All this poop you continually bring up and sling around hurts our hobby.

BlakeyB don't let these certian people discourage you from participating in this forum. Their behaviour speaks for itself. They will never get it and never understand that their idiotic behaviour continues to keep people away and damages what so many people work hard to achieve.
There are alot of great people here that will be more than willing to give you help or answer your questions.

i personally wouldnt slam you, to me it doesn't matter if your baja is made home made in the garage with spit and bailing wire the point is you have a large scale to run with :D

I was raised to follow the rules wherever I happened to be at. As an adult, if I don't like something, I go somewhere else, but I really try to respect someone else's rules.

HBF is about the HPI Baja. HPI sponsors lots of races. HPI works with some of the aftermarket vendors. When KM starts to do this type of support of the hobby, great. But until then, the rules are the rules.

The growth and the popularity of HBF has done a lot for the large scale hobby. Love'em or hate'em, without them, I guarantee the Baja aftermarket support today would be a joke (mostly Integy probably :crying:). A lot of those small shop guys are now distributing through Tower Hobbies. That's pretty darn good.

I also have no doubt though out of all of the members on that forum, there are lots that have a clone. They don't mention it, they get along fine, and no one is the wiser. It keeps discussions from becoming heated, so why try and stir crap up? Enjoy what you have and quit worrying. If anyone was around me that bashed, I could care less if they had a Raco Jackrabbit so I doubt anyone in your area would care. If they did care that much, what's the point of hanging out with them? I'm partial to Honda's, but I don't dislike my friends or others that drive GM's or Chryslers.

I get tired of the whining about HBF. I like the forum. It's the best source for anything Baja related period. I can get an answer to a question in 10 minutes if I post something. LSF is great for all brands/types of large scale vehicles, RRF is great for all Rampages and RCU is jackass central.

The responses to this post are not discouraging anyone from participating in this forum. LSF is the best large scale forum out there as it covers all models without prejudice. Blakey asked if he should go bash with the HPI guys and most answered 'yes' - is that discouraging.......no. If Blakey (or anyone else for that matter) was new to the hobby and bought a baja whether it be HPI, KM or otherwise, you would expect HBF - a baja forum - to be a good place to start for advice. Obviously this is naive due to the ties with HPI and Blakey had a bad experience which brought him over here. This is exactly the point of his question - he had a bad experience on HBF so is apprehensive about receiving the same reception if he turns up to bash with them which is very understandable. Claiming those listed above are kids with behavioural problems is very confrontational which is not what this forum is about.

One minor edit dwarfy, I didnt have a bad experience when I went over there. I was trying to see if I would. More like a scouting question since I was bringing my kiddies with me and wanted to avoid a negative experience for them. My son and daughter love to bash so it would have really been dissapointing for them if there was an issue.

Right now everyone over there has been nice, so I have no complaints I think the thread just spun a tad out of control. On the same note, if there are any 5thers who are in the New Jersey Manalapan Old Bridge Matawan area, probably going to have a bash session the 14th of may.

If you have already spoke with the guys on HBF and they were fine with you why ask the question on here? Why not just PM the guys on HBF and introduce yourself and let them know you wish to join them next time they bash? Everyone has obviously interpreted your original post as I have

Oh well at least you can go bash with no problems! Enjoy :D

Sorry if that caused confusion, in my first post I asked whether people thought it would be a problem. Everyone then said no it would be fine as long as it was just bashing and not a forum sponsored event.

So I said ok I will ask then and report back on what happens.

Then I posted back that I found some cool local dudes and we were going to meet up.

That was the end of it so I thought. Then things got a tad weird here ;-)

I only asked he wether people thought it was a good idea to avoid possible conflict. Lol it looks like the opposite happened ;-)

So lets maybe delete this thread. The batlight is on mods we need you!

P.S. I ran a very large network security forum (36k members) for about 10 years, that I retired from about 1 year ago. So as much as I feel for the mods and the struggle it is to maintain a forum, I do smile a tad at the inter forum rivalries. Ahhh it brings back memories.

Good work guys, I know it can be a thankless job, where everyone thinks you make millions but in the end forums keep these hobbies alive and I really appreciate the hardwork.

i say run it with a smile on your face...an if they haven't seen one hide it likes its from erea 51....lmao..

i like the hbf forum as well...but you best keep your opinion to yourself on that site or you will be banned...its ran like a prison..

I've just placed a post on another thread, I think King Motor.

This Clone thing Irks me big time!!
I've got 2 FG's, so can plead some ignorance :D:D:D BUT,
EVERYONE without fail, generally who purchases either an HPI or 'Clone' either replaces loads of parts with 'agreed preferable hopups' immediately or systematically when breakages occur, and generally with the SAME hopups.

Hardly any are more than perhaps 15-20% original, be they HPI or 'Clone' after time, so WHAT'S THE DIFFERENCE? !!!!!

Am I missing something?
Soapbox moment over now!!
ENJOY YOUR RIDE - IT'S YOURS - IT'S GREAT FUN !!

people who hate clones have deep pockets & jeloulos of the fact you have sensible ideas about where to spend the wonga

Hey Blake! Had a great time bashing with you and the guys! We may be able to run on Sunday! As long as it stops raining! :w00t:

No worries on the clone. Just bring extra pull starts next time! HaHa! as long as you are having fun in the hobby and not fustrated.... Who cares! my only problem is when people buy clone parts of manufacters. The smaller guys. That kind of stuff drives them out of business and prevent new and well made stuff from being produced. If that makes Sence? See you soon!
