it's a good choice, but what else would we here say... :D

do the pre-run check list, get a kill switch and have some fun. at some point you'll want better servo's and exhaust.

Send the money

This is a buggy that is going to take money to make it useable! The bearings and anything that houses them needs to upgrated right out of the box. Also the stearing servo is crap. I went with the Hitech 805. This meeans that you will have to drill new holes as the servo is a odd size. This buggy has good and bad things to say about it. I wish I could say that red cat had the customer in mind when they built this but it all about the mighty buck my friend. I have one and learned the hard way about upgrading the bearings and the axle housings. I'm replacing after only 6 charges and that no joke!

I bought new SS bearings and the 7075 axle housings. I'm looking to build this buggy to ride a fine line on insanity in the first place so this would have to be done regaurdless. Just thinking of the poor bastered that bought this buggy thinking that he will get some use out of it before spending more money.

The tire foams in the XT typically turn to dust in a few tanks. If you want to drive for a while without tire work, lean towards the XB, I heard they last longer.

I have over 95 hours on research on the redcat 1/5th scale RC. I almost bough the buggy but I wanted a little more ground clearance. So then I checked the xt and MT. The xt is 10 pounds lighter but with the less weight your also getting smaller components. So I went and bought 2 MT 's. The MT is the best IMO! Bigger tires, thicker A arms, 700cc tank instead of 500cc, dual steering servos!, and some aluminum parts. But even though I love my MT 100% I still want the buggy because that's what I used to professionally race.

Edit: I also forgot to mention I check the other 1/5th scales and the redcat is the best bang for the buck. They are all very similar on how they work but most people look for price. Sure you can buy a high dollar HPI for 700$ less radio and motor and my RTR MT will keep up and or pass you. Redcat also has more working room.

All RC cars have pros and cons, I myself had a FG before I bought my Redcat XB.

I bought MY xb becourse I saw all the problems the high end cars had, and there fore I expeted more problems with my cheap redcat car, but really when you think about it..

- ALL RTR cars needs new servos after no time at all.

there is always something you need to upgrade.

I've upgraded my uprights/bearingholders to 7075rc = 1 problem gone

I've awaited the 7075rc alloy gearbox that is now on the market = 1 problem gone

I've upgraded to the gearplate to the stock MT gearplate (uses bigger bearings) = 1 problem gone

I've upgraded my servos (as is needed for all rtr models) = problem gone

and that's about what needs to be changed, but I would say that I ran it "out of the box" for 4 months without a single problem (except for the stock tuningpipe that broke).

all in all I'm in love with my redcat XB and wouldn't change it for any other largescale Gas car.

Redcat Racing is not a top of the line brand but it gives you a great value for your money and there are upgrades for it that are reasonably priced.

i have the XT and its great have had some problems like the tire foam and weak steering. think rob is doing the hpi wheel adapters free with purchase of a X series so look for that also the hpi run narrow front wheels which my help with steering if not it is not hard to mod a 2 steering servo in the xt.
