I have an FG MT... My "Boss" has an LST...

I have been running Nitro for the past 15 years... (Remember the Silver Fox? I had one)

My "Boss" is a douche... I can't stand this little prick (mind you, he is 10 years younger than me) He has an original LST with the .26 and about 10 pounds of Aluminum upgrades. Wheels, A-Arms, Bulkheads Etc...

This little Douche swears up and down his LST will smoke my FG MT...

In case you don't remember me, or if you are new to the site (welcome if you are a new guy) My Mt is stock... Aside from the front cable brakes, 36mm big-bore kit, a double wheel wheelie-bar kit and a Jet-Pro "silenced" pipe.

All I want to do, is shut this poophole up! I have more money in my radio gear, than he has in his whole truck!

Springtime is coming and so is his attitude, So I want to bet him fifty bucks, that I will blow his doors off in a 200 foot drag race. I know my Savage with an SH .28 will stomp his ass, but I don't know if the FG can do it...

The race will be held on (dry) black-top (asphalt) And the winner has the bragging rights!

I can't stand this little prick and all I want to do is shut his mouth! Do I have a chance?? The local Police Department clocked my FG at 46mph, and I was still pulling speed. I don't think his LST will do that, but I don't know!

I couldn't care less about the fifty bucks, I just want the bragging rights!!!!

Please let me know,

Thanks guys!

a stock LST would probably get close to 40. but with alot of added weight i wouldnd expect it to get over 35.

i would go for a 300 ft race instead of 200. just cause the nitro will spool up faster and get to top speed quicker. the added 100ft would allow you the room needed to overtake his early lead off the line.

it still could be close, but your wheels are bigger, so more top RPM, your motor has Way more torque, so don't mash the trigger off the line so you can get the wheels to Hook up and give the most traction, once rolling, smash the throatle and let it fly.

that and be sure your tuned well. as it warms up the air will get thinner, so your tune will become richer. get a good tune on for the day so spool up is smooth and strong, no bogging, and i think you ll do quite well.

Make sure you warm the tires up, If cold they will spin, spin, spin. You could always lengthen the field and swap the stock gearing to more of an onroad gearing. It would be interesting how much of the line you would or would not loose gearing up cause you would have less spin out in the beginning and could wot it right away. If you had a DOM pipe I would say you would loose nothing when gearing up, except less spin.

Well, I guess the first thing I have to do is put the ole girl back together! I blew my diff last spring (Racing an LST of all things) I tore it all apart and I didn't mess with it for almost a year and now, of course, I can't remember how to put it back together!

What do you guys recommend for upgrades? Aluminum is cool, but I have no use for a truck too pretty to get dirty! I want this thing to hold together, no matter what I do to it (realistically speaking of course) It is stock now. So, gears, alum motor mounts anything else? An approximate price would be cool too. I want to stick with FG parts, so everything will interchange with stock parts. Do you guys have part numbers? I don't really know of a good parts vendor, VS Modelsport (where I got the truck) never has anything. So, whom do you recommend?

Sorry for the long winded post, but I could use some help.

Thanks,
Trip..

Personally i'd put the Medium hardness tyres on the rear and as was already stated get some heat into them - My M's always bit harder than my H's on the rear - the H's would just spin. If you want to guarantee a win throw the 2 speed on and make it a 300ft race

Get the big and small motor mounts. The FGMT has less chance of motor mount movement due to the two bolts on either side of the engine that bolt the side plates to the motor, but they are a good upgrade.
