Oh well. I have a big bore top on my engine and one of the head screws broke off. So, I took the engine apart to put an new screw in. In my haste to put it together, I didn't bother reading instructions on how to put the piston back in. So, I started it up and it ran like crap. Guess what, I think I put the piston in backwards and didn't align the ring. Darn it!!!!!!!!!

All the work tonight and I gotta go and tear it down again to do it right.

just rember the ring pin and gap go on the carby side. lots of people make that mistake the first time.

Pull the plug just to confirm you have it in wrong, it is easy to see throught the plug hole, where the piston identification mark is. If you are unsure which direction the wrist pin clips are might be worth checking too, they should either be open to the top or to the bottom. I always leave mine opened to the bottom.

I was lucky - and the thing seems to run correctly other than a messed up plug because I was in a hurry to put the piston back in and I oiled up my glove and coated the head with oil, not realizing at first that the finger I put oil on had grease from a previous operation!!! So, the plugged got fouled a bit but I cleaned that up and things are about 90% peachy. Whew!? next time I do brain surgery on my buggy, I'm going to take my time.
