No Problem to bend flat plate and drill some countersunk holes...

my problem would be I have an FG baja and don't know anybody with an HPI so I don't have anything to copy....

yeah but how do you cut 4mm thick of steel? i don't have a drill or able
to drill countersunk holes... and how would you bend it? i don't have the
tools to do this?

thats why i asked if anyone can do this for me.. if i had the tools i
would of made it myself :)

I have pillar drills and sheet metal benders also plate benders....hacksaws and grinders will do the main shape cutting.....

If you can get me a pattern I can make it....

if you shape cardboard out to the exact shape you need with holes in the correct place I can cut the steel then if you cut out a piece to fit the profile of the bends then I think we could sort it out...

thats the only way I can think of making it without me having an HPI in front of me.....

Oh sorry a tage slow

Could you? that will be great!! :D

I will do my template then i send it out to you but the 5t is in my mates and im
busy this week with painting so as soon as i get to my mates i can sort it out....

Thank you..

OR i could send you my front bumper ect then it will be easyer to play with but i will
still do the cut out of the cardboard and place it on the bumper..

Bumpers are there to be a weak point so your chassis is protected, put a steel bumper on and there is a better chance of bending your chassis.

Thats easy to make but i would'nt make it out of steel... Be way to heavy !

I would make it from 4mm aluminium + 4mm chassis thats 8mm in total thats plenty and will only bend if you drive it into a brick wall

nope i want it in steel! :) yes i know its gona be heavy but i don't really care..

4mm aluminum is to weak and it will bend/snap but 4mm of steel wont i reckon
i have a billet bumper support in front of the bumper so the steel cant bend on impact!
and Mike i really dout it will bend because its going under the chassis, kickup
plate and front bumper..... oh and i'll be getting the TR front upper brace to go with it!!

yep but with the front bumper and mine is gona be 4mm steel not 3mm

take it from me mate 3mm is well thick enough, most people make them out of alloy to keep the weight down i,ve got some 4mm alloy if you want to try and make your own one you only need a hacksaw a drill and a vice to bend it in.

yeah but the 5b is lighter than the 5t by what 5-6 pounds...

so i want it mega strong! :D Ive seen alloy kick ups bend on a 5t! :w00t:
so i decided to go that extra mile and have a 4mm steel one rather than
an alloy one...
