Sorry guys, I have been gone for the past few weeks/month...

This is kind of a sad story, so if you don't like that kind of thing... Hit your back button...

Ahhh, still here huh?

Well, I have been gone for a bit because my brother Jamie, died in a car accident, he was 26.

It is a long story so I will skip the details, but I am here now for a bit. I just have a bunch of things to take care of!

Meli, Matt and I are doing OK, but a little wierded out by this whole experience...

After I maxed out every credit card I have, I still had to pay out $4,000 for the funeral and expenses... (Mind you I am living on unemployment since my company went bankrupt) I pawned off everything I could, my toolbox and tools are now gone, I sold all 5 of my snowmobiles (Including a fully restored 79 Kawasaki Invader and a Polaris Indy 600) for a measly 1000 bucks, but I did get 300 bucks for my couch and love seat! (a depressing lol) The worst part was, Meli had to sell her engagement ring!!! But, I/we paid for all funeral expenses... (I was going to pawn/sell my computer, but they only offered me 30 bucks!!!)

3 days after putting my brother in the ground, I got a phone call from some greasy attorney...

Apparently, Jamie got a boat a few years back and Willed it to me?!?

I went to the attorney's office... He read out a Will, (that I Didn't Know Existed) but, I was awarded a 1978 Glastron boat and $126.76!!! BUT, after Lawyer fees and what not, I owed the Law Firm another $2,600!!!

They said they would give me $200 for the boat and I would only "OWE" THEM $2,400!!!

As it turns out the Glastron boat was my Dad's old boat! He died in '04 and now my brother dies in '09 ...So, I guess that old boat is all I have to remember them by... I am keeping the boat... Period!

Oh what to do??? I am lost!

Anybody want to but 2 large scales?

Thanks guys,
Trip..

Donations??

When I read this topic I was very shocked of the (unexpected) death of your brother.

I wish you all the strength you need in these difficult times.
With my deepest sympathy,

Good grief Trip. You have my sympathy. Hang in there.

How do you owe the law firm anything? Look up some attorneys with free consultations. That doesn't sound right.

Sorry to hear about your loss, its never easy to deal with the loss of a love one especially when its unexpected. I know it seems thing look pretty bleek right now but try and keep your head held high and I wish you and your wife the best of luck.

Well my fiend...There is always a reason why God call's his children back...
not sue why..maybe to make you a stronger person in this life....You will find the stringth
to press on with your life..things will turn around for you....It is never a good thing to
loose family members or close friends.....I my self have been thru this many times my
self....Best to you in your time of need....Your RC Family is here in the forum.Slawhammer

My condolences.

Our family just went through a loss as well. Car accident as well. Left behind two small children.
Did he have a wife or kids?
Make sure to get his measly Social Security death benefit to help in the payment for burial. Its Only a couple hundred but its something.
I agree that it makes no sense that you would owe anything to the attorneys that would have been paid by him to set up his will. I would look into that.
I hope you the best in your time of loss. Remember we are always here if you need someone to talk or vent too.

God Bless,
BTB

Nice looking boat Trip. I understand the hassles. Amazing how expensive dying is. And those bottom feeding lawyers should be next on the list for the gate entry ;)

im sorry for your loss trip. there is no answer to why horrible things happen to good people, but its sad. every day is a gift, not a givin, so go fish'in, pick flowers, say "i love you", make amends, don't lose yourself in the drink and don't ever sell that boat to some 2 bit, greedy laywer. im sincerly sorry trip. my heart goes out to you, your wife and the boy.
