Just got me Escort MK1 shell and would like a but of advice.I want to paint it Daytona yellow but need to know what to back it with.

I think they did those colours around the end of the Mk.I era 1971 ish, didn't they.
Perhaps not fluorescent orange, but a bright orange.
Bright green also ...

Unless these didn't appear until the Mk.II?????

Backing

voo2doo,
To answer your origional question. Back either of these colors with silver. Silver is very forgiving, even if your main color is not sprayed perfect, silver will not show flaws in your yellow or green. Backing with white or black will show any inconsistency in the yellow or green.
