the kill switch finally arrived and i'm getting ready to install it on my xb. the rx and tx are the same ones that came with the car (DSM-2C).

i think my transmitter is 2-channel, but my receiver is capable of receiving more. regardless of this, i still have to follow the 2 channel install diagram on killerrc, correct? also, is the purpose of connecting the kill switch to the reciever via splitter cable to allow it to detect when the tx turns off?

Yes you have to go by the 2 channel diagram afaik. The 3 channel schematic has you plug directly into the 3rd channel. Your second question does make sense but I believe it also monitors the battery voltage and glitching through the tx. Correct me if I'm wrong.

You can plug it into the 3rd channel port. It will still kill the engine by turning off the transmitter power.

i already had the splitter cable, so i decided to go with it and connect it to the steering servo port. besides, i wanted one free port for the LED lights.

i tested it without firing up the engine, and it seems to be working fine. connecting the kill switch positive terminal to the ignition coil was a pain in the ass.

anyway, how do you guys route the kill switch cable out of the pull starter case? for now, i just popped out the button and routed it through there.

I notched out the bottom corner of the plastic engine shroud on the front side where the pull start mounts and the kill switch is. Then I zip tied the rest, coiling up the excess where the front driveshaft wouldn't catch it. So far so good no problems as of yet.

I zip tie the wire to one of the coil mounts and route it through the side, like this...

rcdad was right. it turns out that with a 2-ch transmitter and a 3-ch receiver, i had to plug the kill switch directly into the 3rd port on the rx and leave both dip switches on. i didn't need the splitter cable at all for this.

it wouldn't kill the engine when it was plugged into the steering channel via the splitter cable.

The killer bee has the following that ours does not.

External led and buzzer.

Adjustable voltage cutoff

The ability to turn off the glitch kill. (This is needed for the Speky's)

The above are nice if you want or need them.

If you just need a remote kill switch ours work great.

Has a preset voltage cutoff for the stock batteries.

Works with 2 and 3+ channel radios. We have had no issues with the Futaba or Flysky radios. Works fine with the Redcat radio.

Shuts down from glitching.

Shuts down from low battery.

Shuts down from loss of signal

Shuts down remotely by third channel or powering off the radio.

I have a lot of gassers so it's nice to have a less expensive option.

This also applies to the RAMTech switch.

That's a nice vid. They are very easy to install.

It is just crazy to run a gasser without one. Now price can not be an excuse not to install a kill switch. These are priced so everyone can afford one. :)
